Silence fills Hope's office. Her door is closed, the only sound that breaks the awful silence is the one of Hope's fingers typing on her keyboard. The auburn haired girl's eyes haven't left the screen in hours, and there's a deep frown on her face caused by concentration. Actually, if Maya hadn't stopped by earlier, she probably wouldn't have had lunch.
When an alarm suddenly breaks the silence, the Mikaelson girl jumps in her seat. She places a hand over her heart, letting out a little chuckle as her heart rate slowly becomes normal again. Hope quickly stops the alarm on her phone. Then, she saves her work on her computer and shuts it off. The Mikaelson heir quickly gathers her stuff, ready to go back home and spend some time with Josie.
Josie. Her wife. Someone she's starting to like a lot more than she's ready to admit. It's been a little more than a week since the brunette landed in New York. She's been staying in Hope's apartment since that day, even though Klaus thinks she's back in Mystic Falls now. Keeping Josie's presence in New York a secret from the auburn haired girl's family has been a lot harder than she thought it would be. Hope really hates lying to her family, but she loves having Josie in the city with her. Their evenings have been filled with chatter, home cooked meals and laughter. Just thinking about it brings a smile to Hope's lips.
"Do you have somewhere to be?"
Hope's heart stops for a second, and her eyes go straight to her door. There stands her father. He looks at her with suspicious eyes, but a small smile is playing on his lips. Hope puts her bag back on her desk as she smiles back at him.
"Just dinner with Maya."
Klaus nods. "She's been away from her office a lot these past few days."
Hope's body tenses, but she keeps smiling. "She's been running some errands for me. Nothing to worry about, dad."
The blond man's smile gets a little bigger. "Good. Sit down, we need to talk."
Hope nods, and immediately does as she's told. Klaus sits right in front of her. His intense gaze makes Hope uncomfortable as she knows she's been lying to him for a while now.
"The Medical Association's charity event is on Friday." Klaus pauses until he sees recognition in Hope's eyes. "Ryan Clarke of Triad Industries should be there. I'm gonna need you to get that deal you didn't manage to conclude in Las Vegas."
Hope's jaw clenches and she goes to open her mouth to protest, but Klaus lifts a hand in the air.
"I don't wanna hear it. You're gonna get that deal, and get past this childish behavior of yours. Ryan told me how you stormed out of the meeting room." The Mikaelson man sighs before standing up, looking down at his daughter. "That's definitely not a good way to show me you can be the next CEO of our company."
Hope stands up, not wanting her father to look down at her for another second.
"I'll conclude that deal."
"I expect nothing more from you." Klaus says with a smile that shows off his dimples. They stare each other in the eyes for a couple more seconds, then the blond man puts his hands in his pockets and turns around to leave. He walks a couple of steps, and just as he reaches to open the door, he turns back to face Hope. "The divorce papers will be ready by Monday. I'll have them sent directly to Miss Saltzman."
