Sixteen

Cheryl hesitated the next morning taking the twins to school but she did it with loving words and promises that they would get everything sorted out.

So obviously her heart dropped when she answered a phone call for her to go into school without an explanation in the early afternoon.

As she walked to the principles office she saw Toni also sat there.

'What's going on?' Cheryl asked as soon as she approached the brunette.

'I have no idea' Toni shrugged standing as the door opened revealing the principle of the twins school.

'Mrs and Mrs Blossom-Topaz thank you for coming, if you'd follow me' he said turning back into his office 'please take a seat'.

Cheryl and Toni took a seat watching the principle do the same.

'It's come to my attention that both of your children got into a fight with some of their classmates' he stated.

'What!' Cheryl almost jumped out of her seat 'are they alright?'.

'They're all fine, there was a teacher monitoring recess that broke it up but I can't stress enough how violence will not be tolerated at my school'.

'Are you blaming our children?' Toni said with a raised eyebrow.

'The children won't talk about why it happened but I am sending them all home for the day, I hope you'll speak to your children and tell them that fighting is unacceptable' he said again.

'And maybe you'll speak to your students and tell them that bullying is wrong' Cheryl said as she stood up 'where are our children?'.

Toni couldn't help the small smirk that took over her face at the redheads sassiness.

The principle told the pair where they could find the twins and they left without another word.

'Moms' Aaliyah breathed 'I'm sorry for fighting'.

'We'll talk about it soon, lets get to the car first' Toni said as she picked up the twins school bags and nodded to the teacher that was sat with them.

Aaliyah and Phoenix walked slightly in front of their mothers and Toni and Cheryl couldn't help but smile slightly when Aaliyah wrapped her arm around her brothers shoulder and whispered something to him causing him to nod.

'What are we gonna do about them fighting at school?' Toni whispered.

'We find out what happened and if Aaliyah was just sticking up for him I guess we tell them fighting isn't the answer even if I'm secretly glad she did it' Cheryl shrugged.

'She's definitely our daughter' Toni laughed leaning into the redhead a little.

'You know when I was young Jason used to stick up for me like Aaliyah does for Phoenix, I miss him everyday' Cheryl said sadly.

'I know you do baby but I know he would be proud of you and he would have loved his niece and nephew' Toni smiled sweetly.

'And they would have adored him' Cheryl nodded, her heart skipping at Toni calling her baby.

The car journey was quiet, neither the twins nor their parents speaking, Cheryl pulled into Pops she wanted to talk to the twins in a calm environment and she wanted to make sure they weren't hungry since they had spent their recess fighting.

They found a booth, the children sitting across from Toni while Cheryl went to the counter to order them some food.

Once the redhead sat down she looked at her children expectantly 'so can one of you tell Mama and I what happened?'.
