Chapter 8:Rock Climbing

Ash was ecstatic after what happened yesterday. He got his first ever kiss from a girl! 

"Do you have to be so loud?" Serena asked.

"Serena, you don't understand! I got kissed!" Ash said to the girl.

Serena looked at Ash with a shocked look on her face. She knew Shauna liked Ash, but was she really confident enough to kiss him?

"Where did she kiss you?" Serena asked.

"On the cheek." Ash replied.

"Not on the lips?" Serena asked.

"Yeah, but a kiss is a kiss!" Ash said.

"Whatever." Serena replied back.

There was an awkward silence between the two until Serena decided to speak.

"Where are we headed next?" Serena asked.

"Coumarine City! Where you will take on the Grass-type Gym Leader Ramos!" Ash said.

"Okay, but are we walking or driving?" Serena asked.

"Driving of course!" Ash said.

"But Ash..."

"Yeah?"

"You left your car back in Cyllage City."

After a short trip back to Cyllage City, Ash and Serena were making their way to Coumarine City.

"So are you and Shauna officially a couple now?" Serena asked.

"I sure hope so!" Ash replied, "How's Calem?"

"He's recovered well. He should be out in the next couple of weeks hopefully." Serena said.

"Why does Calem mean so much to you anyways?" Ash asked.

"Well, he was my childhood friend and always supported me. I have a lot of memories from him." Serena replied.

"Well, come on! Tell me one of your memories then." Ash asked.

"Okay... well it was the day of my birthday and..."

Flashback

"So you're finally out?" 

It was the day of Serena's birthday and she managed to sneak out to meet Calem.

"Yeah." Serena said.

"Don't they normally lock you in there for only a day? You were in there for almost three full days!" Calem replied.

"Dad got drunk and lost the key." Serena told Calem.

"Oh, wow." Calem said.

There was an awkward silence between the two, until Calem spoke up.

"Oh yeah! Happy birthday!" Calem said as he handed a wrapped present to Serena.

"Thanks, Calem!" Serena said as she unwrapped the present.

Serena looked at the present in awe. It was the necklace she wanted!

"Calem, you didn't have to do this." Serena said.

"Of course I had to! I doubt you're getting anything from your parents for your Sweet Sixteen!" Calem said.

"I mean, I guess you're right" Serena replied, "I just don't know how to repay you." 

"Repay me? It's a gift Serena! No need to repay me!" Calem said.

"Thanks Calem, you're a true friend." Serena said.
