You thought you heard a loud crack as Yuki kicked Takeshi's shoulder.
Takeshi then fell straight to the ground on his stomach.
He held onto his shoulder and groaned in immense pain.
He glared up at Yuki. "Who the hell are you? You know, I could easily sue you for this."
Unfazed by his threat, Yuki knelt down and said, "This is merely self-defense. You're the one who harassed her first. There are many witnesses here. Be thankful that I'm not the one who's suing you. Maybe think before you use that mouth of yours."
Takeshi couldn't even say anything else because he couldn't take the amount of pain he was going through.
Yuki offered you his hand.
"Do you want to get out of here?"
You looked down at his open palm. You hesitated, but took it anyway. All you wanted to do was get away from here. Away from Takeshi.
"Yeah."
The two of you walked to the nearest park and sat on a bench.
"Do you mind telling me who that was?" he asked.
"That was Takeshi. He's one of my cousins."
Yuki took a huge breath of relief. "Thank goodness."
You were confused by his reaction. "Why do you sound so relieved?"
He quickly turned to you. "Don't take it the wrong way! I just thought that was the guy you liked."
"Why are you relieved that he isn't the guy I like? Don't you have feelings for Machi?"
Yuki was taken aback. "Why'd you bring up Machi all of a sudden?"
"What!? So you don't like Machi?"
"You thought I liked her?"
"Wait! So you have feelings for someone else and not Machi?"
"Yeah, that's right."
"But why were you relieved when you found out Takeshi wasn't the guy I liked?"
Yuki didn't say anything. He avoided looking at you too.
"Yuki?"
"To be honest, I never planned on telling you this soon, but-"
"Y/n! Yuki!" yelled Momiji. He was with Haru, Hiro, and Kisa.
"What are you guys doing here? Shouldn't you be at the main estate?" asked Yuki.
"We overheard your call and figured you went out to meet Y/n, so we followed you," said Haru.
"Don't tell me you guys were going on a date?" said Hiro.
You and Yuki immediately turned beet red.
"I-I think you're misunderstanding," you said.
"Yeah, why would we go on a date? That's crazy," said Yuki.
Hiro was glaring really hard at Yuki.
Yuki, who noticed, slowly looked away.
"Hey Haru, what's up with Hiro-kun? Why's he acting like that?" he discreetly whispered in Haru's ear.
"Who knows? Maybe it's puberty," said Haru.
"So you're saying his puberty is so bad that he would get mad at me and me only for no reason?"
"Yeah. Am I wrong?"
Yuki just sighed. "Never mind."
You knelt down to Kisa's height.
"Happy New Year, Kisa-chan," you said as you held her small hands in yours.
"Happy New Year, Y/n," she said.
"Do you know what you're going to wish for?"
"A wish?"
"Yeah. Something you wish for to happen this year."
"All I want is for everyone around me to be happy and healthy."
You were quite surprised by her answer. You would never expect a kid her age to wish for something like that.
You smiled as you patted the top of her head.
"Kisa-chan is so kind and mature."
Kisa let out a little giggle.
You turned to Hiro, who was still glaring at Yuki.
"Do you have a wish, Hiro?"
"Even if I do have one, it's not like it'll come true," he said, calmly shrugging his shoulders.
"You never know unless you try."
"Nah. I've tried it before. It's all just to scam people into buying good luck charms and what not."
You couldn't say anything because what he was saying made kind of sense.
This kid had so much logic stuck in his brain that he didn't even seem like one.
Sometimes, you wish that he would just spend his childhood with the heart of a kid.
"But can't you just tell us what your wish would be?" you asked, trying to get an answer out of him.
For a second, Hiro glanced over at Yuki and made eye contact. He then looked over at you.
"I just wish that the girl I like would like me back."
"Ooh! You have a crush on someone?" you asked, getting all excited for him.
"Yeah, but I'm 100% positive that she won't."
"Why not?"
"One, she's too oblivious. I've dropped a few hints here and there, but she still doesn't get it. And two, she has feelings for someone else."
"But isn't it better to get it off your chest and tell her?"
Hiro looked at you as if you were crazy.
"No way! What's the point if she's going to reject me anyways?"
"Did she say she didn't like you?"
"No."
"Did she clearly state that she likes someone else?"
"No, but-"
"Then what's stopping you?"
Hiro opened his mouth to say something else, but he couldn't say a thing.
He just stood there as that question kept echoing in his head.
What is stopping him?
That was when Yuki put the pieces together and figured out what was going on.
It seemed to him that Hiro had feelings for Y/n.
