Chapter 6 Part 2

Part 2: Open Flames Unto The Night Sky

I was finally able to get some rest last night after weeks of the same reoccurring dream within a dream.

When I woke up this morning, I wasn't drenched in sweat or tangled up in my blanket. I asked Sean and Liam if I was talking or mumbling in my sleep last night and they shook their heads no.

I felt relieved and myself again.

" Hey Isaiah. " Sean said.

" What's up. " I responded.

" You going to the bonfire tonight at 6, or are you staying here? " he asked. I nodded to his question and started picking out an outfit for tonight.

I stripped to my boxers and went to the bathroom down the hallway. I knocked to see if anyone was in there. I jogged back to the room, grabbed my clothes and headed back to take a quick shower.

The hot water was soothing as it ran down my spine. I washed up quickly and hopped out. I grabbed a towel from under the sink and wrapped it around me.

After drying myself, I styled my hair and changed into my clothes. I wore a blue and black aeropostale shirt with black jeans. I threw on my socks and blue Nike's, and I glanced once more in the mirror to see how I looked.

I headed into the kitchen for something to eat. Looking around, I spotted a bowl of rice and a pan of chicken.

I heated the rice on high in the microwave. While that was going, I grabbed the pan of chicken and diced a few of them up to throw in with the rice.

When I finished, the microwave beeped and I took the rice out. In came Liam and I could tell he smelt what I was making.

I pulled two plates from the cabinet and two forks out of the drawer. I started putting the rice and chicken on both; evenly distributed.

I motioned for him to sit, in which he did, and put his plate in front of him. It didn't take long for him dig in. I too sat down and started eating the meal I prepared.

A moan came from me as I ate the delicious food in front of me. Liam looked up at me and I just shrugged him off.

I got my plate and fork and started washing them when I finished eating. Following behind, Liam did the same.

When we headed back to the room I checked the clock for the time, 5 till 6. I'm all dressed and ready and so is Liam.

Come to think about it, I haven't seen Sean all day, excluding earlier this morning. I don't know.

" You ready or nah. " I said with a chuckle.

" Yeah. Lets go have some fun! " he exclaimed with a pump of his fist in the air.

I took that as our que to start heading to the lake. It's about a block from here so it shouldn't take us that long to get there.

Here we are, I thought after walking for 10 minutes or so. Ha...seems like everyone decided to arrive early.

I spotted Sean, so Liam and I walked over to him.

" What's up man? " I asked him.

" Chilling..waiting to see what's all in store for us here. " he said. The three of us talked for another 45 minutes before the bonfire started.

" Ok now everyone. We are here to celebrate! Who all's excited? " Ms. Campbell asked us.

Everyone cheered, hooted, and hollered in response.

" Ms. Campbell, what exactly are we celebrating? " I asked curiously.

" Well for the most part...tomorrow is a big day for some of y'all. " she responded with a huge grin plastered across her face.

" Meaning... " I trailed.

" Tomorrow, there are families coming to the orphanage. They're willing to adopt some of you. " she answered.

I nodded, so maybe this night will go very well. After hours of socializing, eating, and just having straight up fun; we headed back to the orphanage. I wonder what's going to happen tomorrow.
