I awoke in a hospital bed, strapped down with wires all over the place. I tried recalling what happened, but I couldn’t remember anything. All I could remember was talking to Arianna after that it’s just a blur.
Ale walked over to me. He was dressed casually; he was wearing a dark blue beanie, and a black hoodie. He just stood there looking at me not saying anything.
“Where is Jaydon?” I asked him confused.
“He stepped out for a moment, I’m glad you’re okay.” He told me, running his fingertips on my cheek.
I pushed his hand away giving him an odd stare. What the hell was wrong with him? He was acting different, he would never touch me if Jaydon was around, that wasn’t him.
“Are you okay?” I questioned him.
He nodded. “I just wanted to see you before I leave.” I heard him say.
I snapped my head up at him wondering if I heard him right? He was leaving; he didn’t care if he left Arianna alone. He was going to be a selfish bastard and runaway like he always did.
I was getting ready to yell at him when he stopped me. He covered my mouth shushing me. “What you’re about to do was what got you here in the first place.” He informed me. “You had your turn to talk now it’s mine,”
I stayed quiet letting him proceed with what he wanted to say. “I’m leaving for many reasons Julie, but I’m not running away. I fucked up too many times already…” He stopped talking staring at me for a moment.
Where was this going? It took him this long to realize he screwed up so many times, what made him see that? I had been trying to get him to see his mistakes all this time but I never succeeded but now suddenly he knows he messed up.
“Once upon a time Julie we were meant to be, but you pushed me away, and then you fell for me,” He smiled to himself. “You fell in love with me but I decided that I was never going to be good enough for you.” He whispered hiding the hurt in his voice.
“So I did what I thought was best and asked Arianna to marry me. I love her or at least at the time I did. I knew you were going to hurt but I knew you would be okay, and you’re perfectly okay.” I watched his brown eyes begin to tear up.
“Who made you in charge of deciding what I want?” I muttered looking away from him. He thought he wasn’t good enough, and he wasn’t. But that’s how I wanted him, unperfected.
“I wanted what was best for you, and I’m not the best.” He tried to make me understand, but I didn’t want to hear it. He needed to confess all of this to me when he saw me in the library. It was too late for him to try to make things better.
“It doesn’t matter anymore Ale, all of this doesn’t matter.” I whispered staring across the room.
He nodded taking in a deep breath he came closer to my bed. “Good bye Julie, I truly wish you the best,” He responded keeping his eyes locked on me.
