Chapter 1

Brandon’s Pov

Today is Callie’s 17th birthday and we are throwing her a party at the house. Im gonna be honest. Callie and I have been getting close these last couple of days. And not the brother and sister type of way. But I was dating Lou. The adoption still wasn’t final. Robert was still fighting for custody and mom were trying to fight back even harder. Then there is Callie who is really stressed and moms are gonna trying to get her emancipated which is gonna be really hard for her. I was walking out of my room to go brush my teeth when I saw Callie sitting in her bed looking at the necklace that was now hers.

I walk into her room and see that Mariana wasn’t in there so I sat next to Callie. “Hey. You ok?”

“Yeah. I just wish my mom was here with me.” Tears were starting to form in her eyes.

“Hey. It’s ok. I mean I know she would’ve loved to see you turn 17.” I say trying to convince her. I can tell that something else was bothering her. “Callie. What’s wrong?”

“Steph and Lena are trying to get me emancipated but it is gonna be so hard for me because I need to have a full time job to show that I can afford an apartment and go to school at the same time.” By now her tears were falling out of her eyes. I couldn’t help it so I pulled her into my arms and let her cry on my shoulder.

“Have you ever thought how it would be if your mom never died?”

“Yeah. Every night. I wouldn’t be in the foster system, I would’ve never went to juvie. But then I think that if she never died I wouldn’t have known about Robert and Sophia or I would’ve never met you guys.” She was quiet again. “There’s a saying, “There’s always a little good that comes with everything bad.” That’s you guys. Then I feel like everyone I care about leaves me.” She was crying again.

“That’s not true. You got Jude, Mariana, Jesus, and Moms.” Then I cup her cheek and point her eyes towards me. “You got me. And im never leaving.”

“Promise?”

“Promise.” I then pull her into a hug. We hugged for what felt like forever. “Come on. We should get down stairs. I mean they didn’t throw a party for fun.” I say with sarcasm in my voice.

When we get downstairs everyone was in the kitchen eating breakfast. It was silent until mom (steph) broke the silence.

“Ok so what is everybody doing today?”

Me-“Music”

Jesus-“Practice”

Mariana-“Dance”

Jude-“Connor”

Callie-“Homework”

“Ok well be back before 6 because we are gonna have a little celebration.” Mom said walking towards Callie and hugged her.

2 hours later

Everybody was gone and it was just me and Callie. I was walking upstairs to go to my room when I heard a familiar melody. Then it hit me. She was playing Outlaws with her guitar. So I walk into her room. “Your getting better at playing.”

“Oh thanks.”

“Was that Outlaws?”

“Oh yeah. I was just umm…. I just felt like playing it.”

“Oh. I forgot to give you something. Come here.” She then follows me into my room.

Then I start shuffling thru my dresser and then I found it. It was a diamond bracelet with a C on it.

“Here” I say handing it to her.

“Omg. Brandon I cant ta-.”

“Yes you can” I say cutting her off.” Here let me put it on.” I move her hair to the side and put the bracelet.

She then turns around and we stare into each other’s eyes. Then I cant help but grab her face and kiss her. Then kiss started to get heated and next thing I know we are on the bed clothes scattered just laying there. Then sleep took over.
