Ad Astra Abyssosque

"Here" Wagner said, handing Venti the bow he finished making for me.

"Thank you, Wagner" Venti replied retreating from wagner's work station.

We walked out to the end of the bridge leading to Mondstadt, following the trails to Windrise, there was a hilichurl camp up there Venti needed to take care of before he had the rest of the day free. Though he wasn't an adventurer, he still loved helping out his town.

The thought of becoming an Adventurer did intrigue me more and more as the days went by, since i now did know how to defend myself with a weapon. It could be an interesting pastime, something to fill the hours i had free.

"I want you to practice your skills with these hilichurls" Venti suggested pointing over to the small camp ahead.

I was kind of nervous, this would be the first time i put my skills to use on hostile enemies. Though i would have Venti to watch my back, i still wasn't sure if i was quite ready for a challenge like this. But in spite of all of my doubt, i grabbed an arrow, aimed my shot, and fired.

The hilichurl immediately hit the ground and disappeared, leaving behind its mask. I was so proud of my achievement that I barely noticed the other enemies closing in on me.

Swiftly picked up more arrows and shot them as well, i was really getting the hang of this whole fighting thing. Picking up the loot from the ground, i showed the stash to Venti, i knew he would know what to do with it, since i'm not an adventurer.

"Nice work traveller! Let's go back to Mondstadt and hand these items over to Katheryne for some rewards" Venti said enthusiastically while viewing the materials.

"Alright, off to Mondstadt it is"

"Ad Astra Abyssosque, welcome back the the adventurers guild Venti" We heard Katheryne speak as Venti approached closer the the small stall in the middle of the stairs.

"Hello Katheryne, I have finished the Commission from earlier, here are the materials from the monsters" He handed her the item drops.

"Well done! Take this in exchange, have a nice day"  Katheryne gave Venti a small bag, most likely stuffed with some Mora.

"You too!" He replied accepting the compensation for our work.

Venti didn't even look at how much Mora Katheryne handed us, he just gave me the bag.

"What?" I was confused on why he was giving it to me, since it was his commission.

"You complete the task so you deserve the reward" he smiled at me, still holding the bag out waiting for me to take it.

I still felt kind of bad taking Venti's form of income, be he persisted. I didn't want to cause a scene.

Venti started bringing me on commissions more frequently, sometimes multiple times a day. It was a tiring task to be an adventurer, I don't know how people were able to do this all day, every day.

It payed very well, even when Venti and I split the reward, I'd been saving my Mora to pay him back for the weapon he got commissioned for me. I know making getting the weapon made wasn't very expensive, but Venti did spend a lot of time gathering the materials Wagner asked for. The least I could do was pay him a little mora for his efforts.

As the days go by, more commissions get completed and my skills with a bow sharpened. I barely had to charge my shots anymore, mostly just pulling the string back a little and quickly letting go did the trick with the smaller enemies.

"Y/n let's go to Angels Share!" Venti grabbed my hand and started pulling me toward Dilucs tavern.

"Okay" I followed him.

Walking into the Tavern, Diluc acknowledged our entrance as we made our way past the front counter and up the stairs in the back of the place.

"..." Venti seemed a little disappointed as he sat down at one of the tables on the second floor. "I have to go out of town for a while, traveller"

"Oh, where are you going?" I asked

"...to help an old friend of mine"

"Can I come with y-"

"I'm sorry, but I must go alone" he interrupted me, the frown on his face more profound now.

"That's alright! You'll come visit me when you get back though right?" I was worried he wouldn't return.

"Of course Y/n" Venti has replied as Diluc made his way over.

"Good" I smiled before letting him order his dandelion wine.

The night went buy quickly, we played a few card games... I lost all of them. The tavern was closing and Diluc was motioning all the drunks out.

Leaving Mondstadts gate and entering close to the Forrest, Venti picked me up for a final flight into the air before he left. The fresh air was so nice against my face, and I've learned not to panic, since this was pretty normal now, for me at least.

But the mood of the night got extremely low when we reached the ground again. Since we both knew what was coming. We've spent almost every day together since the we first met, it would be hard on both of us to be apart for an undetermined amount of time.

"...I guess this is goodbye" I spoke to lift the silence.

"Only for now, dear traveller" Venti leaned in to give me a hug before he left. I waved him goodbye as he turned around to walk in the away.

Venti stopped in his tracks as he reached the end of the the beginning of the pathway. He ran back towards me. I was very confused about this sudden change of pace.

He grabbed my face and planted a gentle kiss on my lips.

"Don't forget about me, I'll be back soon" he giggled before actually leaving this time.

I just stood there in the doorway, at a lost for words.
