Can you stay?"Are you ready to begin, Y/n?" Venti had asked me once we arrived.
"yeah, ready as ill ever be" I shook my head in approval and he handed me the bow i'd been using for our practice, soon i would need to purchase my own though. Which would be exciting, since i could customize how it looked and how the bow weighed.
Looking around, i noticed our place of training had upgraded, there were more hay bales and even some boars for moving target practice. Those would be much harder to hit, and i hoped these boars were not aggressive like some others people have encountered.
I was now able to hold a bow without any help, which was a sign of improvement, but i still had a lot more experience to gain before i could fight beside him. Though Venti didn't do much fighting, it would still be fun to spend more time with him.
I still had some trouble hitting the middle of the targets, but at least i was able to hit the hay bales instead of completely missing them like before. Venti showed me a few more beginner techniques, and showed off a few of his skills.
"Impressive, where did you learn to fire like that?" His moves were pretty impressive, and I still found the way he held his bow quite strange.
"As i told you Traveller, practice. Soon you will develop your own style as well"
The day was passing by quicker than expected, soon enough it was time for lunch. I pulled a few apples from my bag for us to snack on during our training breaks, since i knew Venti enjoyed them, and i liked seeing him happy. I personally didn't understand how he could eat so many apples, since they did not appeal to me.
I must have been really entertained today, because before i even realized, it was almost time for me to make my way back home. I knew my mother wouldn't be back for a while, but i still didn't want to stay out too late, especially alone. Venti was here with me, but if something were to come up and he had to leave, i would be stuck walking by myself back home.
I've also grown to comfortable having someone by my side for that way back anyways, it would feel strange being unassisted on the pathway. Of course Venti agreed that it was about time to head back, I believe he also didn't like the idea of me walking home alone.
This time he walked me to my door instead of waiting at the end of the forest, maybe because my mom wasn't here to question who he was. I did tell her that i went out with friends, but she wouldn't recognize Venti, since he was a new friend of mine. And last time I introduced a boy to my mom she ended up scaring him away... So i think it was best to keep him away from her.
I invited him inside for a few moments to relax, since i thought Venti deserved a little down time without having any responsibilities to worry about. He seemed a little hesitant at first, i wonder why? But he still joins me at my kitchen table.Resting my head on the surface in front of me I could feel my body drifting off to sleep. My eyelids were heavy and i struggled to keep them open.
Not to long after, the warmth of my covers surrounded me. I could catch Venti leaving as i squinted my eyes open. Grabbing his arm, i tugged on the sleeve of his white shirt. A soft brush of wind hit my face from the swift motion of Venti turning to face me.
"Please don't go..." a soft whisper escaped. "Can you stay?" A few minutes of silence followed my request.Without a response and letting go of Venti's sleeve, i rolled over in my bed and waited for him to exit the house, since i took his silence as a no.
"Move over, y/n" suddenly his voice filled the gap of numbing quiet.
"What?" did i hear him correctly? Am i dreaming?
Feeling the edge of my mattress dip, i realized he was getting in with me. Suddenly the warmth wasn't coming from my blanket, but from my back and my face as Venti embraced me in my half-asleep state of mind.
