When Xiao Jingjue stepped into her courtyard, she saw her servant, Ah Xi, waiting drowsily at the entrance of her bedroom.
Ah Xi was nodding off when she heard the sound of footsteps. She quickly opened her eyes, fighting off her drowsiness as she exclaimed, "Y-Young miss, you've returned!"
"Mhm. Ah Xi, you must be tired. You can go rest, these days I'll be in my room practicing my cultivation, unless it's urgent you don't need to call for me."
With that said, she walked in and closed the doors. Though Ah Xi was her servant, they weren't close with each other in her past life and therefore she was neither warm nor cold towards her.
By cultivating the energy of heaven and earth, it in itself provides nourishment for her and therefore, she did not need to eat nor sleep like mortals do. Therefore, she decided to seclude herself and use this time to gain more knowledge on the world as well as her physique.
While Xiao Jingyue secluded herself inside her bedroom studying, the ancient sects that have been quiet for the past centuries have been taken by a storm!
A week ago, the moment before Xiao Jingyue's rebirth, in the Water Palace, Water Kingdom.
A handsome young man who seemed to be in his mid-twenties could be seen sitting on a grand, crystalized seat at the center of the high-stepped platform.
He looked cold and detached from worldly affairs and wore a long, white robe. His cultivation was completely unreadable and presently, there was a slight frown on his face.
This was Shui Guotin, the current Sect Master of the Water Kingdom.
Below him were ten others, a group of seven men and three women. They also wore a set of white robes with three blue, crystalised, teardrop symbols on their left chest, stating their status as the Grand Elders of the Water Kingdom. They respectively stood in two rows while facing the Sect Master with serious expressions.
The air within the Water Palace was somber and heavy.
"Sect Master, we have sent many of our disciples to search all over the Divine Continent. But we have yet to receive any news about the woman we're looking for. Instead, our disciples are returning with injuries from their encounters with the remnant devils during their searches. Although I'm reluctant to say this, I recommend we should stop our searches," suggested the oldest elder in the room.
He had long, white hair and what stood out the most was the nasty scar that ran deep across his face. He was known as Elder Yin, the Grand Elder of the Punishment Hall.
Elder Yin had received this scar during the last war where he had saved Sect Master Guotin from a sneaky Devil King. If not for his timely rescue, the Sect Master might have suffered heavy injuries. As a result, his standing in the sect was very high.
"Old Yin, I understand that your heart lies in the disciples of our sect. However, we need to find the woman in the prophecy otherwise our future will be dire," sighed another grand elder.
Sect Master Shui Guotin knitted his brows. After the great war between the devils a thousand years ago, the last Oracle had used the remainder of her lifespan to forcefully look into the future.
She saw a vision where the devils would once again invade the lands of the Divine Continent. The only clue she had given before she took her last breath was a woman with a pair of silver eyes. She was the only one who could prevent the annihilation of the Divine Continent.
He and the other Ancient Sects had spent many resources as they silently searched for clues on her whereabouts. Unfortunately, luck was not on their side. Hundreds of years went by, but yet they found nothing...
Shui Guotin gave a long sigh and a glimpse of determination flashed across his eyes, before quickly disappearing.
He waved his right hand, indicating that there was no need. "Pass down the order, all disciples are to return to the sect. We will stop our search for the woman with the silver eyes."
After hearing what he said, aside from Elder Yin, the other grand elders in the palace were startled. They stared hard at the handsome man to see if he was joking. Realizing that their Sect Master didn't know how to pull a joke, they hurriedly tried to persuade the Sect Master to recall his order.
"Sect Master, we can't! If we stop now, all of our efforts and resources for the past decades will be gone to waste!"
"Without the woman with the silver eyes, the Divine Continent will suffer obliteration!"
"Sect Master, the day of the devil invasion is drawing closer. We might be lucky enough to find her soon. But if we stop our search, our chances are close to none..."
"Enough!"
The Sect Master's solemn voice reverberated throughout the Water Palace. All the elders who protested became silent and lowered their heads.
"Since the Oracle has seen her in her vision, it shows that when the time comes, she will appear herself. If she does not show up..." Shui Guotin narrowed his eyes and looked at them coldly.
"We will still slaughter those devils who dare put their eyes on our land! We are the protectors of the Divine Continent. Don't tell me, as one of the dignified Ancient Sect, we're going to put millions of lives in the hands of an unknown lady just because of a mere prophecy?"
What answered him was not one of the grand elder present, but a small yet powerful fluctuation that had suddenly appeared in the air. This fluctuation spread across the continent and during the split second that unsettled time and space, it connected the past and the present, before dispersing like air.
Everyone in the room quickly turned their heads and faced the middle of the Water Palace. Their frown tightened when they felt a wave of darkness and coldness swept across the palace from the center.
Suddenly a delicate figure slowly emerged in front of their eyes. It was a young girl at around the age of eighteen. She was wearing a deep blue, cold shoulder dress which wrapped around her body, showing off her beautiful curves. There was a blue sleeve hanging off each of her wrists, held by a pointy, silver armament.
She wore an intricate, silver mask that covered the upper half of her face. Although they couldn't see her nose upwards, they could tell that she had a delicate profile with thick, long eyelashes.
The young girl had flawless skin with a pink, kissable lip. Her beautiful, silky black hair had no hair accessories to hold it in place, therefore it gracefully fell down to her waist. They could already imagine the countless men who would undoubtedly fall for her charm shall she show her face to the public.
But what made everyone in the hall gasp in shock was that she had a sparkly, translucent pair of silver eyes!
