However, the most critical task she needed to do now was to find Li Jun!

As she felt her eyelids growing heavy, Jingyue laid down and closed her eyes, taking a quick rest.

When she woke up again, the sun had already settled. Someone heard the rustling inside and therefore carefully knocked on the wooden door, "Young miss, have you woken up? This servant will warm up the congee for you to eat."

"Mhm."

After a while, her maidservant came back with a warm bowl of porridge. As she placed it on the round table, Jingyue got off her bed and went to sit down.

Taking a spoonful, she asked the young girl standing on her side, "Where is father?"

"The Clan leader is currently in the study room, discussing some important matters with the other elders of the clan," replied Ah Xi. The servant then became a bit hesitant, "Does the young miss want this servant to go and see if the clan leader has finished his matters?"

Jingyue patted her lips with the handkerchief which the servant gave and shook her head, "No need. I'll head over now."

As the two made their way to her father's study room, her clan members would greet her with respect. Looking at their expressions, Jingyue realized that although she has lived in this clan for over a decade and they spoiled her, there was no one that she could confide with.

No one.

They had revered her as the daughter of the clan leader but had remained distant.

Jingyue felt sad but buried it deep in her heart. Like this, it will be easier for her to take revenge.

When she arrived at the front door, the study room was brightly lit, and she could see the silhouette of several figures through the paper screen. She spoke to the person that stood guard outside, "Announce to father that I'm here. I'll enter when he has finished with his private matters."

The guard nodded his head before he knocked on the door and entered. Not long after, the guard came out and said, "The clan leader has asked the young miss to enter the room."

She entered the room and saw her father sitting behind the table whereas the several elders of the Xiao clan stood on both sides. Jingyue silently walked to the centre before she slightly bent her knees, "Greetings father and several elders."

The several elders nodded at her warmly before asking how she felt.

"Yue'er, why have you come to see father?"

"Father, after this incident, this daughter feels slightly unsettled and would like to request to go to buy a slave."

"My lovely daughter, are you planning on nurturing a shadow guard? Father does have the intention of taking you to the slave market in the following week. However, since you've brought up the topic, I'll take you out tomorrow."

"Thank you, father. Then this daughter will no longer interrupt with father's business and take my leave."

The next day, Jingyue woke up excitedly as she was looking forward to meeting Li Jun. Ah Xi, her maidservant, helped her wash her face and dressed her up before she quickly went to greet her father.

They had a light breakfast together before heading towards the main gate. A horse carriage has already been waiting on the side. After half a shichen, the movement of the carriage had finally stopped.

She hurriedly got down the carriage with the help of her maidservant and followed behind her father. It was a normal-looking restaurant, and the customers seemed very satisfied. The attendant came up to them with a smile and asked if they had booked a table.

"No, we are here to buy."

The moment the attendant heard this sentence, he smiled even more brightly and carefully. He waved for another worker and told him to take his place before leading both of them towards the inner part, and into a secret entry.

"Sir, if you are looking to buy slaves then you have come to the right place. Not only are our slaves the best compared to our competitors, but we have also trained them to have absolute obedience to their master. If you ask them to die, then they will die..."

As the attendant continued to describe how good the quality of these slaves was, Jingyue gazed around for any sighting of Li Jun. Each and every one of them was locked in wooden cages that was barely enough to fit them. They were malnourished, radiated a gloomy aura, and had lots of scars, obviously, they were tortured into obedience.

She could tell that some of them already had a mental breakdown and had become crazy. As she searched all of them, Jingyue became gloomy. This was the place that Xiao Yang had bought him her in her past life. But, how come she couldn't find Li Jun?

Did her rebirth cause a butterfly effect and affected the timeline? No, that couldn't be. She hasn't stepped out of her manor ever since she came back, so it shouldn't have affected anything outside of the Xiao clan.

"Yue'er, did you find anyone you want to buy?"

Jingyue looked at and stared at her father, "No father, I'll come back another time."

When the attendant saw that even though he had been talking for so long that his mouth had become dry, but the two guests weren't going to buy anyone, he quickly uttered, "Guests please wait. If you're willing to wait, our new batch of slaves will come in about a week. I promise that the new batch will definitely not disappoint you."

Jingyue desolately got onto the carriage. As they journeyed home, she paused. That's right! She remembered that in her past life, she did not wake up so soon. She was unconscious for a few days and had to rest for another few days before Xiao Yang took her to the slave market. Perhaps she had arrived too early, so Li Jun has not been sent here yet.

It seems like she was too hasty. She would have to wait for about a week before visiting this place again. Feeling slightly better, she told Ah Xi to send a message to her father, "Tell father to return home first. I will pay a visit to the Bai manor before heading home."

When she reached the front doors of the Bai Manor, she slowly got off the carriage and adjusted her clothing before standing in front of the entrance gate. She looked at the two bold words 'Bai Manor' written on the plaque and felt complicated.

In her past life, the only person she was close with was Bai Shiqi, the only daughter of Bai clan. The Bai clan was on the same standing as the Xiao clan, but because of her, Bai Shiqi died, and because of her the Bai manor was completely destroyed.

No descendants escaped and so the Bai clan was erased from history.

Xiao Jingyue clenched her hands. This matter has caused her extreme guilt and despair. She had thought she would not be able to atone for her sins. Thankfully, she was reborn now and the Bai clan would not meet their end like her past life.

She could not promise that she could make them be the strongest in the world, but she will promise that the clan will forever live on and won't be destroyed by anyone!

This is my promise to you, Bai Clan!
