Her hands glided along the white and black keys. Her hair fell onto her shoulders. She didn't exactly like playing the Piano but sometimes she found herself lost in her own world as she played it. She closed her eyes as she played the song. The notes went a little like this:
G G G B E E E D B B B F# F# F# (x2) (these are the right hand notes to an actual song I learnt on Piano so feel free to play it <3)
She got lost in her own world as she played the notes and remixed them. She didn't even hear the door open and someone walk in. She felt someone place a hand on her shoulder and jumped. She looked up to see a woman staring back at her. Short, ebony black hair fell at the side of the woman's face and her glasses were perched up to the top of her nose. The eyes behind her glasses, a little more brown and kind to anyone but Anya. A worried look to most but to Anya a pitiful look was the expression the woman had. Anya's mother smiled at her, but more a sad one.
"That sounded beautiful." She said. Her voice the sound of frangipani. So soothing and lovely. But Anya wasn't in the mood to talk.
"Are you ok? You normally don't get so caught up in Piano, that you don't hear me come in. The door's right next to you so it's hard not to. But of course it's not a bad thing.""Nothings wrong Amma. I just wanted to play tonight. Can you please leave."
Normally Anya's mother would comment on how she was rude, but this time she didn't. Anya no longer felt like playing the piano so she got up and went to her computer. She clicked on the playlist that read 'Shadow of my brother'. She listened as the words greeted her.
"Home. A place where I can go, to take this off my shoulder."
It had been over a month since she started dating Kusoo. Shit happened since then. Kusoo gave her a reason to live. Finally, she wasn't living for nothing, she wasn't obligated to live for her parents because otherwise they would be broken without her. She didn't ask to be here. But the thing was, she wasn't entirely a girl. In the time period she had been finding herself, she had realised that she wasn't only a girl. Part of her was and part of her was, ...it was something.----------------------------------------------------------------------
Anya was sat at the breakfast table, talking to her mother who was at the head of the table. Her head slightly tilted so she could see the kitchen door from the corner of her eye. She watched as her older brother exited the kitchen, standing beside her chair. She looked directly into her mother's eyes, flinching when her brother's hand was near her shoulder. It was quick but noticeable to those who were paying attention to her. He hadn't placed a hand on her shoulder but instead on the top part of her chair back. Her mother immediately scolded her brother after Anya had processed that her mother had seen it. Anya sat there, no visible emotion showing but inside, she was frightened.
----------------------------------------------------------------------She was brought back to reality when someone put their hand on her shoulder. She didn't flinch anymore. She looked up to see her brother. She clicked the button to pause her music and put it down so it wrapped around her neck.
"Hey. You zoned out. Amma's calling you.""Oh, sorry. I'm coming."
He nodded and headed out, she followed. She walked across the small distance between her room and her parent's room. She saw her mom sitting on the bed, her dad nowhere to be seen, as he was in India. She looked her mother in the eyes, her brother who was standing beside her, doing the same. Her mother motioned for her to close the door and she did. Her hoodie covered her wrists, her left wrist were adorned with new cuts. She wore the hoodie for extra precaution. Her mother put two boxes on the bed.
"Acha got you guys Indian clothes!"Her mother seemed excited and Anya pretended she was too, but inside she was extremely annoyed. Her dad had asked if she wanted Indian clothes earlier that week and she had said no. Well he had specified a Lengha. She hated clothes that accentuated her body. She felt more gender neutral than she did female.
I guess I have to be Anya...
This one is a bigger time skip. It's a short filler chapter as I figure out where I plan to go next. I will go over what happened between this chapter and last chapter. By the way, these things are realistic for me because it's similar, if not the same, as what I deal with.
Edit:
I forgot to mention, Anya's pronouns are She/They but like I said, this is based off of my experience. So as I was born BIOLOGICALLY as a girl and because I'm closeted, I use She/Her pronouns when addressing myself.
