An act so unforgivable - dm

The assignment

It's been a week and we have started to get bigger assignments. I didn't mind them when I was in a big group so we could split the workload. Snape was the only one who had us do it individually, I nearly had a meltdown but Hermione helped me which saved me a detention. 

We reached astronomy and I sat down next to Hermione and Luna. As we chatted quietly when Professor Sinistra announced that we would be doing a project over a month period. We would be put into pairs and told where we were to observe the stars and for what times of the month. 

"I hope I get to be your partner," I hear Ron say to Hermione.

"I hope not, you'd just let me do all the work." She huffed.

"You're not wrong." Harry replied, soon regretting it as Ron punched him in the arm.

"I'll be calling out the names and when you hear yours, come up to the front and receive the information you will be needing. Take the rest of the class off to sort out what your plans are."

As I'm waiting for my name to be called I sit there feeling nervous, I wanted to get someone I already knew so I would feel more comfortable. As Hermione, Harry, Ron and Luna's names get called out I get more nervous.

"Y/n and......Draco....." My hearing cuts out, why was I with Draco? I stood up and slowly walked to Sinistra to grab the work. 

"Don't let him push you around." She whispered as she gave me the papers. I walked hastily towards my bag to pack up. I feel his presence walk up to me, I slowly turn around.

"Meet me at the library at 7." His voice was as sharp as a new kitchen knife.

"Okay." I give a small smile and he walks out of the classroom. I sigh, worried about what will happen this evening.

I arrive at the library around 6:45, hoping to talk to Irma, she was looking through a pretty hefty book.

"Hello Irma." I smile while approaching her desk.

"Evening y/n. Here to return a book?" She questioned without looking up.

"Yes, but I'm also here to study." She takes the O.W.L tips and tricks book and goes back to her reading.

"You should read this book y/n, quite informative." She smiled. showing the cover, Protection from the darkest magic.

"Once you're done I'll be glad to read it." Someone taps me on the shoulder. I turn around and see Draco to start moving toward the back of the Library.

"Bye!" I say while following him.

"Get your work done." She replies.

I rush after Draco trying to keep up, he was tall and walked quite faster than me. He sat down at a back booth secluded from the rest of the library. I sit in front of him and grab out the materials needed. My heart felt like it was running a marathon, I was filled with nerves. But I didn't want him to know I was scared.

"So, when did you want to go observe the constellations?" I asked while looking through the pages.

"Whenever, I don't care." He sounded emotionless and was looking at his feet.

"Well we could do tomorrow or Saturday as that works well with the first part of the assignment. Looks like we will be at the astronomy tower. Lucky, that's the best spot." I look up, he is now staring at me.

"I apologise for bumping into you. Although you are very quiet." I looked directly at him, not breaking eye contact. I tried to hide the fear in my eyes.

"Like I said, be careful." He paused, I looked down at the work.

"Saturday is fine." He wrote it down in the assignments calendar. 

"Great. I think we should meet around 1, less time in the cold....." I go to write this down but he interrupts.

"11:30." He stated and wrote this down. I look up at him.

"Uhhh, sure." I write down 11:30 and start to pack up my stuff.

"This assignment should go quick, we only need to meet 3 times a week." As I put the last stuff into my bag he slams his book shut. I jump and he stares at me.

"Seems like you don't wanna spend time with me......am I not worthy to be in a Gryffindors presence?" He looks at me angered yet with a sly smile.

"No, I just thought you wouldn't want to hang around someone who was friends with Harry." I stood my ground. Why would I let him make me scared. 

"That's true. Can not disagree there." He started to pack his stuff and I walked away.

"Where are your manners y/n?" I could hear the sarcasm is his voice.

"See ya" I call out without looking behind me. I ran back to my dorm and started talking to Hermione. She told me I did well for standing my ground and to continue being confident. I took her advice. He wasn't particularly rude but he had caused so much torment for our group. I wasn't ready to look like a lamb ready for slaughter.

Saturday rolled around pretty quickly and I took a nap so I could work all night, why had he changed the time to 11:30? I drift off to sleep trying not to focus on what might happen, i just needed to breath.
