Chapter 5: She's suffocating my crush!

"H-hey Olivia," Jack said, staring at Brian's hand and my hand linked together.

"Hey what's up, Jack?" Olivia said, not noticing the scene that was playing in slow motion for me. At least she had pulled his attention away from me.

"Uh...nothing much, really."

Crap. I watch as he directs his attention back to me.

"So...you guys are together?" Jack questioned in a confused tone.

I quickly take my hand out of Brian's and run it through my hair.

"No--wait, yes. Yes. We're dating," I said unsurely and quietly, rocking back and forth on my heels.

RIIIIIING!!!!

Thank goodness, I thought to myself. I darted off to my first class of the day.

I played with a piece of notebook paper nervously. Jack hadn't talked to me the whole period. And this was the most boring class of all time! I didn't think he liked me, though. He was probably just shocked.

"Okay, everyone! Group project time!" screeched our annoying teacher. "You will do this with the person you sit next to. The information is on the sheet being passed around."

Perfect. Now I get to spend hours with a guy that's pissed off at me for a stupid reason. And even worse, I have a huge crush on him.

I picked up the paper.

"So..." Jack started awkwardly. His voice kind of just trailed off, forcing me to talk. I felt my palms grow sweaty.

"Um...when are you free? I guess?" I said, blushing.

"I have football practice every Wednesday from four to five. Any other time is good."

"Cool," I said, avoiding his sparkling eyes.

"Ya...uh...I guess I'll--uhh... Need your number? So we can, you know, like work out the times and stuff."

"Ya, definitely," I said, scribbling my phone number down on a piece of paper. We exchanged papers and left for our next classes.

Jack was the first one to text.

hey, so what time is good?

um... maybe Friday? From like 3-4 or 5??

so when did you and Brian start dating?

Woah, Mr. Subtle. That came out of no where. I didn't know what to write back. I really liked Jack but he didn't know I wasn't actually dating Brian.

idk we only started dating a few days ago. we aren't that serious or anything

Um...okay? I didn't quite know how I felt. Jack almost seemed...jealous? I wasn't sure. It was probably nothing. He was probably just tired. But somewhere in the back of my confused little brain there was a small voice telling me he liked me.

I walked briskly down the crowded halls. I had my locker route memorized; walk quickly-no, run past the sweaty boy's locker room. Turn left at the drinking fountain. Turn left again at the next turning point, shove past the bio class coming out, and-crap. No. No no no no.

I felt my jaw drop to the floor. There, in front of my eyes, I saw Jack being pressed up against my locker. Some girl was suffocating my crush with her mouth.

Wow. A lot just happened in that chapter. Just when Gracen thought Jack might've liked her back, his lips were on another girl😳
