it all begins and ends in your mind. what you give power to, has power over you if you allow it.

"And that, ladies and gentlemen, was the last song of the night. Thank you for joining us! If you're too drunk to drive, call an uber or your mom!" Gaege said and laughed, the people in the crows laughing and clapping.

He places his guitar off the stand and walks off stage, walking over to the bar. He sat down on a stool and sighed dramatically, signaling Abigail to come over and give him a water bottle.

"Thank you, Abiiiii." He teased and smiled, opening the bottle and drinking it. He looked over, seeing Eddie walking towards him, and smiling as he finished his sip.

Eddie strided over, putting his arms around Gaege's shoulders, "Amazing work tonight, babe." he planted a kiss to his lover's cheek.

Gaege blushed and smiled widely, "It wasn't anything special."

Bobby walked over, sitting next to Gaege, "That new song you sung was amazing, I would listen to your boyfriend." He offered up a smile.

Gage giggled, "You guys are too nice. Seriously, like, how did I land such a great job?"

"And a smokin' hot boyfriend, might I add." Eddie slid in.

Gaege playfully hit Eddie's arm, "Jeez, cam down. Self-absorbed much?" he joked.

Eddie just laughing and turned when he heard the door alarm go off, "Hey, welcome to..." He trailed off, standing up straight.

Gaege pouted, "Hey, where you going?"

Eddie looked over, "I'll be right back."

Gaege raised his brow and looked over at Abigail. She just shrugged in response, "I'm sure it's nothing, mija. I wouldn't worry about it." She said and went back to cleaning the glasses.

Gaege sighed and just stared off. He put his head down on the cool metal counter and closed his eyes. His mind started drifting off to a place of fear, a place or worry, a place of insecurity. He wanted to know why Eddie was of in such a rush, why Eddie didn't tell him where he was going, why Eddie gave him such a vague excuse. Eddie never rushed off like that, usually, before he walked off to go talk to someone, he would give Gaege a kiss on the cheek, head, or forehead. He never just left like that.

Gaege heard the jingle of the door, not even bothering to pick his head up to look. To be honest, he brought himself down with his mind. He was tired of being so miserable with himself. His own insecurities were being projected into his relationship and he was sick of feeling sorry for himself.

Eddie walked over to Gaege and rubbed his back, "Hey, amor, what's the matter? Are you okay?" He questioned and Gaege just nodded.

"Yeah, I'm okay." He sat up and looked up at Eddie, "Who was at the door for you?"

"It was no one, babe." He kissed Gaege's head. This was the moment whenever a beautiful young woman walked up to the couple.

"Eddie, who is this?" She crossed her arms and leaned against the bar.

"I'm his boyfriend." Gaege said and leaned his back against Eddie's chest.

"What do you mean boyfriend?" She hissed at him, pointing her finger at them. Gage furrowed his brows and sat up, "I'm sorry who are you anyway? I don't understand why you're questioning me and my boyfriend's relationship?"

"I'm Eddie's wife." She spat.

Gaege's eyes went wide and his face fell. He could hear Eddie start yelling at her but all he was hearing was ringing in his ear. His heart was shattered. He's been lied too, manipulated, used, all of the above. He stood up and grabbed his phone, retreating to the door. Eddie ran after him but he just shook his arm from his grip. He walked out of the bar and ran. He didn't care where he was going, he just wanted to run. He didn't want to look back. He felt his phone vibrating in his pocket but he could care less. He was looking forward. Tears blurred his eyes. He reached a big field of grass and trees and fell to his knees. He cried and held his knees to his chest.

Eddie ran out of the bar, "Kat! I do NOT  have time for you right now. We are DIVORCED. We are not married! We got a divorce a year and a half ago! I cut all ties with you for good reason! You are fucking crazy! Why can't you just butt the fuck out of my life?" He says as she follows him.

"I want you back!" She pleads, "Please, Eds, take me back, baby." She follows after him.

He turns around to look at her, "JUST LEAVE! You cheated on me with my best friend! Just go, if you haven't forgotten, I have a restraining order and I can get you arrested right now. Just go, Kat. I hate you. I never want to see you again." He says and runs off to go find Gaege.

It was dawn and Gaege sat in the same spot, never moving. He watched as cars drove by on the road, not picking up his phone when it rang. He doesn't even look over when he hears Eddie calling his name.

"Gaege!" Eddie runs over and hugs him close, "Please don't ever go away like that again, you had me worried sick. My god, you're freezing. Come on, let's go home, you're going to get sick." He went to stand up and tried to pull Gaege with him.

Gage pulled his arm away from Eddie, "Go home with your wife." He sniffles.

"No, baby, she...just let me explain, please? I never meant to lie to you, I was going to tell you in due time. I'm sorry I didn't tell you before. She's my ex-wife. Please just come on, we can go home, get you warmed up and I promise, I'll tell you anything you want to know."

Gaege looked up at him and nodded, taking Eddie's hand and following him back to the car in the bar parking lot. He sat in the car as Eddie started to escort the last of the guests out and close up the place.

The car ride home was silent, the only sound was the low talk show on the radio and Gaege sniffling. Neither of them spoke. Eddie didn't want to make Gaege uncomfortable and Gaege was still trying to wrap his mind around everything.

Before he knew it, they were home. They walked into the house silently and, as if they read each others mind, they both took a seat on opposite couches in the living room.

"Just tell me everything." Gaege broke the silence.

"What do you mean everything?" Eddie questioned.

"Just...everything, who she is, what happened, I don't know, everything." He shrugged.

Eddie nodded, "Well, her name is Katrina Wallace. We met back in business school and we were friends for a while before we started going out. We got engaged about a year later, I knew it was too early but I didn't care, I was in love with her, or so I thought. Everything went well for a while until we started fighting. She kept accusing me of cheating on her, whenever really, I was staying at work late to try and avoid the fighting. One day,  I came home late from work because I had some paperwork and bills I had to fill out and pay, and I ended up finding her and my childhood best friend in bed together. I ended things after that. We got a divorce and she's been crazy obsessed with me this whole time. I eventually got a restraining order against her because she would follow me everywhere I went and she would harass everyone that I talked too. I'm surprised she even showed up tonight, but, I guess she caught wind that me and you were together and she wanted to try and scare you off. I understand if you're upset with me, I never wanted to lie to you, I was going to tell you about her soon, I just didn't think she would show up. I should have just told you before all of this, I'm sorry, Gaege. I never meant to hurt you." He frowned. He got up and kneeled in front of Gaege, taking his hands in his own, "I love you, I mean it."

"Just please don't lie to me again, Eddie, please?" He looked up at him with watery eyes, sniffling.

"I pinky promise." He pulled Gaege into a hug. "I will never hurt you again, I swear."

Gaege nodded and hugged Eddie tightly, glad that they were okay. He wasn't okay, but them as a couple being okay meant more to him than anything.

Eddie pulled away and looked up at Gaege, "You're still shivering, how about I run you a hot bath and we cuddle in bed and watch a movie afterwards. How does that sound?" He questioned.

Gaege nodded and smiled, "That sounds nice."

Eddie smiled and picked Gaege up bridal style, "Well then let's go!"

Gaege just giggled and buried his neck into Eddie's neck.

God did he feel so lucky to have this man.
