The four sat there. Waiting. For anything. For them to be found. For good news from the police.
Pope sat in rage, anger. He had everything. He lost everything. But hey, at least he still had his friends, right? Wrong. Because two of them are lost at sea currently. At least he got the girl.
Kiara sat, mind being overwhelmed by her own thoughts. Memories. The memories of the parties with John B. The sleepovers with Sarah. Her eyes welled with tears the more she thought.
JJ sat. He just sat. He didn't show emotion. Or worry. If anyone looked into his eyes all they'd see would be just that. Eyes. Not nothingness, or anger, or happiness. Just eyes. But he was worried inside. He didn't show it, but he was. But inside, he thought of everything. Not of just John B, but of everything. Everything they'd done in the past week. Everything thats changed. For better, and for worse. He thought of everything. But to everyone else's eyes, he just sat. Holding his girls hand. Helping her. For even though he might lose his best friend, who was like a brother to him, she might lose her sister.
Zia sat in tears. You'd think she'd make a new ocean with how much she was crying. It wasn't a wailing cry. It was a silent cry. A quite one. The kind you do when you want no one to hear you. The kind you do when your only a little stressed out. But even though she was silent, her mind wasn't. Her thoughts were screaming for her, for she couldn't. There was no proof she was dead. But something was for certain, if she came back, her and Zia would certainly be sent back. And no matter if they're safe, or dead, it was over for the two girls.
She doesn't know how it happened. All she knows, is that when the power came back on, and The Phantom was revealed, she saw three people.
John B.
Sarah.
And Teeny.
And as if she wasn't already worried, this sent her over the edge. She saw the boat speed away, only after Sarah struggled to help John B turn it over. She watched the cops go after it. She heard the water splashing, and the wind rushing, and the police sirens wailing.
She heard Ward talking in the other tent.
Because even though there was so much going on around her, she couldn't focus on anything, meaning she heard everything.
Heard Wards shouts to the police, heard Kie's quick sobs, Popes heavy breathing, and JJs constant reassurance that it would be fine.
But she wasn't listening. She heard it, but didn't listen.
She couldn't. She couldn't listen to people explain what happened, or what was happening, or shouts, or screams, or sobs, or even JJ's kindness.
She must admit, JJs touch helped, but it wasn't the fix she needed. She didn't need JJ. She didn't need a vape. She didn't need to cry.
She needed her sister back.
Because now, she thinks it's her fault.
Because she brought Teeny here, so it must be, right?
"They'll be fine, they're leaving, getting out. They'll be okay." JJ told her for the twentieth time.
"It still happened, JJ. They're still leaving." Z finally spoke. After two whole hours of waiting there, she finally said something.
JJ was grateful for that. Grateful that she said something. Cause she was what he needed just then. And he needed her to be okay.
"But they'll be back in a few months." He tells her.
