Chapter 4: What's the Worst That Could Happen?

It was now around 8 pm, and it was time to go get ready for this experiment. I left my room, as quiet as a mouse trying not to let Nat or Yelena hear that I was leaving. I didn't want them to see what was about to happen. I made it to the stairs and started making my way down them when I saw someone waiting at the bottom of the stairs. It was Yelena and Nat of course, they knew that I wouldn't tell them. Nat was clearly angry, and I did not want to try and talk them out of coming, so I accepted defeat and let my sisters come with me. We all made our way through the halls to the basement stairs. I asked them one last time if they were sure that they didn't want to stay behind and all Nat did was glare at me, if looks could kill. Yelena just remained quiet with her arms crossed on her chest. As we headed down the stairs, I could hear mumbling and the sound of metal clanking together. Once we got down to the bottom, I saw that someone had added a big metal chamber that hadn't previously been there a month ago. My sisters and I looked at each other, confused as to when they had the time to add this.

I made my way over to the chamber that Dreykov and Maxim had set up for me, a little hesitant about my decision. As I walked in, I immediately felt a temperature change, it was freezing in here. But it somehow felt musty at the same time. I gave Yelena and Nat a quick hug before making my way over to the chair that was inside the chamber. When I sat down, I could feel the cold metal hit me through my clothes. There was a daunting feeling I had when Dreykov made his way over to me. He then reaches around to the back of the chair and grabs some leather straps, a metal bar, and a vial of some sort. I looked at him hesitantly confused as to why I needed those.

Dreykov: "These straps are needed, my dear. It could get painful and these will only help keep you in place. The rod is for the electrical current that will flow through your body. And I'm sure you're wondering what this is most of all huh?" He questioned. I just raised my eyebrow, waiting for his answer

Dreykov: "This is the venom of the deadliest, most strongest snake in the world. Only a few people have heard of it. The venom will be injected into your bloodstream at the same time the metal rods turn on. It works with the electrical current to cancel out the part that kills you. Instead, embeds it into your DNA, creating a brand new type of DNA that will give you superhuman powers."

Oh great, I thought to myself. What the hell did I get myself into? This sounds way more dangerous than I was expecting. As Dreykov was strapping me up, the leather pressed against my skin tightly, holding me in place. He then lifted the large metal rod, bringing it across my chest. I jumped as it made contact with my skin, that shit was freezing. I looked up to see Yelena and Nat almost pressed against the small glass window to the chamber. I wiggle my hand a little to wave at them to give them some reassurance. Maxim inserted the needle into my arm for the venom to get into my system. Now, I'm scared and instantly regretting my decision but, if I leave I know they'll make Nat or Yelena do it.

Dreykov: "Are you ready, my darling?"
Y/N: "If I say yes, does that mean you'll never call me darling again?" I exclaimed, a little disgusted. He laughed at my remark thinking I was being sarcastic, which I wasn't.

Maxim: "Let's make history Y/N"
Y/N: "Let's do it." I muttered hesitantly.

Maxim and Dreykov went out of the chamber away from the electricity so they wouldn't be affected if anything went wrong. Nat was sitting up by the window, watching me very intricately making sure I was okay. While Yelena was standing right behind her, rubbing Nat's shoulder trying to comfort her. I gave them a comforting smile, trying to hide the fear that was going on inside my head and mouthed 'I love you' to both of them. Dreykov then turned everything on.

Dreykov: "Here we go Y/N"

As soon as he turned the power to the chamber on, I instantly felt a warm wave rush over my body that kept getting hotter and hotter by the minute. I started to wince at the heat, becoming more and more uncomfortable with everything that was going on. The metal rod didn't heat up right away, but it started to vibrate. I assumed the vibration of the rod was the electrical current passing through it. But when it started to move more and more by the second, I could tell something was wrong. After a minute of being in the chamber, I felt the urge to scream from the pain. It was starting to get way too much for me and I wanted out, NOW! Then a zap of electricity shocked my whole body, causing me to tense up. At the same time as that was happening, the vial of venom had just been inserted to my bloodstream. The veins in my arm started to feel as if the blood in them started to boil. That pain started to overcome my whole body, to the point I didn't know how much more I could take. I started to scream from the pain I was experiencing, I just couldn't take it anymore.
