From a distance I see that Erik and the other Shadows have already gathered at the gathering place. Good. The sooner I complete that ritual, the better. I still wonder what kind of bland assignments I'm going to get. Well, we can see that, right?

What I'm actually most curious about is the story that Erik will tell me later, when the ritual is over. I couldn't sleep all night from the tension. What or who is Tyra? Why do I have traces of Tyra in my body? What do those traces mean? Am I really the one who is going to save all the wolf packs from Evil? How? I'm not feeling very combative right now, so let's hope I will be trained by some good Warriors.

To be quite honest, it somehow feels familiar to walk through this beautiful forest for the second time, with Finn and Dyre by my side. They were waiting for me at the edge of the forest when I came cycling. We have deliberately agreed not to meet in the park because many children always cycle through it when the schools are out. That in itself is not a disaster if there are two of you. At the most, people might think you're playing some kind of hide-and-seek or something. But if more wolves come along, it becomes dangerous. Those two made that clear to me. They wouldn't say why, but hey, that's not important either. There are certain rules and we have to abide by them.

It was still quite difficult to leave Amy behind. Normally we always cycle a bit home together, but today I had to go completely the other way. She desperately wanted to know what was so important and kept asking.

In the end, I told her that my mother had just texted me, 'She needs some groceries and asked if I could visit Mr. Vineyard.'

I could tell from her face that she didn't believe me. She frowned and looked at me with a curious look in her eyes. 'But wouldn't it be better to just go to the supermarket? I mean, it's just a few errands and the supermarket is much closer than Mr. Vineyard's shop.'

I hadn't thought about that. I broke into a sweat and I tried desperately to come up with a good story. 'That's right. But ... Mom has a really unbelievable migraine. It's always the worst at this time of the year. She is now in bed with a paracetamol and a glass of water. So she literally can't do anything, and Dad won't be home until late tonight. That's why she asked if I wanted to go. In addition, she needed some special items that can only be bought from Mr. Vineyard. So that's the reason.'

Amy still didn't believe it. I saw her ponder my words and gauge the truthfulness of my excuse.

I suddenly felt relieved when she shrugged and let out a deep sigh. 'Okay, It'll be fine then.'

I put my arm around her to give her a big hug. 'Hey, don't be mad, okay? Tomorrow and the day after tomorrow I will cycle with you again. And Saturday we're going shopping, okay?'

'Okay,' Amy replied with a pout. 'If you say so.'

Fortunately, just at that moment, a lifesaver showed up. I nudged my friend and pointed to the blonde boy behind her back. 'Ask Jim if he wants to cycle home with you.'

'Have you gone completely mad?' Amy immediately blushed. 'I really don't dare to ask him!'

'Sure you dare,' I laughed. 'You also chat continuously via WhatsApp. Then there's nothing difficult about just asking something directly, is there?'

But no, Amy didn't dare. That's why I decided to stand up for her, to approach Joep, and to tap him. Of course he immediately agreed to my proposal, especially when I told him that there was no one else who wanted to cycle with Amy.

The beaming smiles on their faces as they cycled down the schoolyard together also gave me a big smile. It's nice to see those two so happy. Maybe they don't realize it themselves yet, but I'm sure a relationship is coming up soon.
