AN: This chapter is very iffy for me because I know I can do better, and I wanted to make it longer, but I figured this was alright for now.

I sat directly up in bed breathing heavily as Mikaela's words continued to haunt me. The thing was, I knew he was doing it on purpose. Plaguing my dreams with nightmares so I would end up sleepless.

He was forcing me to relive the day I left him and the rest of our family in the corridor. Ferid was latched onto Mikaela's neck while everyone else's limbs were scattered across the floor. He was reaching out towards me before Ferid snapped his neck then threw his limp body to the floor and that's where the dream would end.

He was trying to make me second guess myself and it was working but not well enough considering I knew what his game was.

He refused to give me an answer on why I shouldn't go. I want to go, and he knows why so I'm still going.

He's hiding something.

Despite him being a demon, he is straightforward to read. I can see the pain, hesitation, and fear in his eyes and body language, yet he refuses to tell me why.

I know he's worried about my safety, but I feel like there's something else going on.

Glancing around I noticed that Mikaela was nowhere to be found and my mind felt heavy in a sense as I could tell he put his wall back up. You can't see it, but you can feel it crowding your mind.

I quickly went inside my closet changing into my black and green demon army uniform. I stood in front of the mirror, running my fingers through my hair to straighten out the tangled mess to the way I like it.

My katana sat in the corner of the room untouched, yet the sword had a dark aura around it that drew me to it. The sword wanted me to unsheathe it, to do something with it.

Shaking my head, I went back to grab some food before grabbing my sword and strapping it to my belt before leaving my room.

People left and right of me were heading down the hallway with weapons at their sides with determined yet worried expressions across their faces. Some people just had expressions of fear.

I could understand their hesitation considering some of them haven't seen the battlefield yet, but they needed to remind themselves that this was the first step in getting the world back to normal.

They were allowed to show fear, but they can't let their fear control them. If they do, then they will not come out of this alive.

We were all headed to the vampire capital where we could expect nothing or everything. All of us could make it out alive or none of us can but at least we gave it a try.

I headed down the hallway, making it outside as the sun began to rise. Despite it already being a stressful day due to little to no sleep, I could appreciate the beautiful sunrise. I just wished someone else was here to appreciate it with me.

With the few times, I saw him he was always staring out the window, seeming to stare endlessly at nothing yet everything at the same time. I caught him once reaching out towards the sun that was coming through the window. He slowly reached his hand in then pulled it back with tears brimming his lashes. He would immediately disappear if I caught him doing things, yet he always seemed to be around, keeping an eye on me.

I followed the herd of people down toward the main station where all our aerial planes and jets were kept.

A loud whistle drew my attention to a group of higher-ups situated on the platform.

"Greetings! My name is Lieutenant General Kureto Hiragi. I am the Moon Demon company's current commander and will lead this expedition along with your other commanders Lieutenant Shinya Hirage and Lieutenant Guren Ichinose with the rest of my crew. We are heading to the capital to hopefully have the final battle to free everyone from those filthy bloodsuckers. Yes, some of you may perish in battle today but we will not let your life go to waste. Your sacrifice will help gain our freedom and the freedom of everyone trapped there." An empty laugh sounded lightly throughout my head.
