Chapter 16

Present Time....
Ava's POV....

After a long day of school, I was back home resting on the sofa, with my feet up on the couch, reading a novel. I was wearing my glasses, and in a grey sweat pants and white tshirt.

"Honeys we're home!" I heard Kaitlyn said as she and Veronica walked through the door.

"Seriously? Good evening guys!" Veronica said causing both of them to laugh, I just smiled at the madness. I once used to be that way too. If only I can go back in time.

"Hey Ava! Where's Selena?" Kaitlyn asked.

"Hey girls. Selena went to buy dinner. She'll be back soon." I said continuing to read my book.

"Okay. I'm gonna take a shower first, I'm exhausted!" Kaitlyn said.

"Okay." Veronica said as they both threw their bags on the other side of the sofa.

"Unless you wanna join me again?" Kaitlyn said and I slightly looked up from my book.

"Go!" Veronica said playfully pushing her away. Veronica then came and sat next to me.

"Hey, we hadn't finish the conversation from the other night." She said.

"Uhmm... I, let's forget it." I said.

"What? Why, I wanna know." She said. I then remembered why I'm not supposed to tell her anything.

Flashback...

Okay. So what brought you here?" Veronica asked as I sat down on her bed.

"About yesterday night. You still don't remember anything?" I asked her, not sure if I want her to remember or not.

"No and you were gonna tell me." She said accidentally grabbing my sandwich and biting into it as she folded her legs. She finally ate.

"You- " As I was about to speak, my phone buzzed.

"Excuse me." I said and she nodded. My face sort of changed when I saw the message.

Tell her anything and you won't find out the truth about your family..

"Ava?" I heard Veronica called me.

"I- I am sorry. I have to go, I have a thing to do with Selena for an assignment. She just reminded." I said nervously. Obviously lieing, whoever this black masked is, better have what I'm looking for.

"Okay. Well maybe tell me tomorrow?" She asked me.

"Hm.." I hummed with a small nod before getting off the bed.

End Of Flashback.....

"Ava?!" Veronica called to me shaking my hand.

"Yeah?" I asked.

"Are you okay? You've been zoned out." She asked worried.

"I'm fine. Just has a lot on my mind. Something with my family and everything." I said and I realized her facial expression change.

"I'm sorry." She said which confused me.

"What for? You didn't do anything." I said.

"Yeah yeah. I just felt you needed to hear that." She said with a sad smile.

"Thanks. But my family is... fine." I lied. She just simply nodded. I don't think I should tell her about my family background yet.

"Uhmm, I better go check to see if Kaitlyn is finish." She said and I nodded. She smiled before getting up and leaving to her room.

One Hour Later...

We were all sitting around the table, having dinner. Selena brought us some Chinese food. The table was so quiet, I think I can calculate everyone's heartbeat per second.

"Uhmm...so how is college so far? Any problems?" Selena asked breaking the silence looking at Kaitlyn and Veronica.

"Its been great so far. We are really loving the classes, especially the evening ones for Veronica." Kaitlyn said winking at her who playfully rolled her eyes.

"Shut up!" Veronica said playfully pushing each other.

"Alright sorry I asked." Selena said laughing.

"Ava, how's yours and Selena's finals coming along?" Kaitlyn asked.

"Great actually. Still can't believe its our final." I said eating a little of the noodles.

"Me too. It feels so crazy." Selena said.

"Lucky you guys. We have two more years." Kaitlyn said and we laughed.

The Next Day....
Veronica's POV...

After the first class, Kaitlyn and I met back at our original spot in the cafeteria. Its like we own this table now, and its good since we have a view outside.

"So this is rice, peas and chicken with a fresh salad?" Kaitlyn asked.

"Yes its healthy food I prepared this morning. Can't always be eating pizza and fast food." I said as she looked at the peas.

"It won't kill you." I said laughing and smiled before eating a spoonful.

"And here is where the princess and the frog sits." Jayden said slightly pushing Kaitlyn around taking a seat next to her, literally opposite to where I was sitting.

"Speaking of things that'll kill us or in this case we will kill, ladies and gentlemen Jayden!" I said in all dramatic.

"Thank you thank you for the introduction, even though it could of been a little more kind." He said winking and I rolled my eyes.

"Hey Jayden." Kaitlyn said.

"Kaitlyn princess, maybe you should teach your bestie there, how to treat us like humans." He said and Kaitlyn chuckled.

"Hahahaha! Very funny!" I said stabbing a lettuce with my fork and then eating it aggressively. Both Kaitlyn and Jayden raised their eyebrows confused.

"Anyways, we still on for today?" He asked.

"What?" I asked.

"Winky Dinky?" He asked.

"I have something to do with Kaitlyn." I said.

"Which is what exactly?" Kaitlyn asked and I shot her a death glare.

"Already spoken. So I'll meet you girls after class this evening and then we'll go together." He said getting up.

"Cool!" Kaitlyn said and I shook my head.

"See you girls." He said kissing her hands before winking at me and then going.

"Such a gentleman, girl you got the right shot." She said and I smiled shaking my head.

"Whatevers." I said and we both laughed.

After lunch, we headed to our classes. Like always, Jayden would sit next to me and annoy my soul.

"Next week I'm starting the musical project for the college fundraiser day. You all are to do a performance and for that you'll have to be working in teams." Our teacher said and everyone groan.

"Seriously, is this punishment?!" I said to myself and I felt Jayden looked at me, he might of heard me.

"Now now. You'll be working with the person next to you, in group of two's for a specific part in the production." He said. We all turned our sides and of course I'm stuck with this idiot!

"Guess we're partners." He said.

"Great!" I said in a sarcastic way and he smirked.
