George entered the hotel room Isla and him shared later that evening. It was dark and very empty which grew the pit in his stomach. He knew he fucked up and at this point, he wasn't sure if he was able to fix it. If only he hadn't been so dense and just told her when he found out he was moving. Things would be drastically different.

All their friends ended up finishing lunch since they already had ordered some of their meals. Obviously Isla and Niki had taken off but everyone else had stayed to make the most of their visit. It was extremely complicated to get everyone together and though the atmosphere was awkward, they tried pushing through it.

George felt uncomfortable there without Isla. He could tell everyone was upset with him even though he technically did nothing to them. George understood though that they had every right to form negative feelings towards him. He knew everyone at the table cared a lot about Isla and the fact that he hurt her didn't sit right with everyone else. Hell, it didn't even sit right with George himself.

The one person that was most upset over the situation was Wilbur. He sat in his chair, mostly silent the entire lunch regardless of usually being a bubbly person. He couldn't help but steal glances at George every now and then, not even realizing that he'd been glaring. Isla was like Wilbur's little sister. All of the minors, and Isla included even though she was twenty two, were protected by Wilbur without even knowing it. And if you overstep and do something to one of them, you better hope you're prepared for his wrath. Wilbur knew he could be a bit brutal with people that hurt them, but he tried to keep his cool since all their friends were around.

George sure did get an earful once everyone dispersed.

"What the fuck is wrong with you George?" Wilbur asked, though it was more rhetorical.

"I know," George replied sadly, knowing he deserved all the shit he'd receive.

Wilbur spent the next hour lecturing George about everything he did wrong in the situation. He was speaking so much that George didn't have a chance to pipe in, but he knew there wasn't anything he could say to make the situation better. So he just walked beside Wilbur, listening to him rant about how shitty of a human George is. And George agreed.

"Just wait in my flat, I'll run over to Niki's to get your room key."

"Thanks," George whispered, sitting down awkwardly at the end of the couch.

And now he entered the empty hotel room all by himself. Though it definitely wasn't empty, it felt that way without Isla. He didn't expect to break down into tears on the bed when he saw the stuffed animal he won Isla laying on the bed. It wasn't in the same position as this morning where she left it. No, it was at the end of the bed, like she debated taking it but deliberately chose to leave it. Yeah, that hurt.

There was nothing he could do. He put himself in this situation and he had to wait for Isla to decide if she wanted to continue giving him a chance.

Before bed that night, George sent Isla a text. He knew she wouldn't answer it, probably wouldn't even look at it, but he wanted it to be there so she knew he cared.

I know I royally fucked up and hurt you. I understand if you want nothing to do with me anymore. I should've just told you months back when the day was. I regret that so much and if I could go back I would if that meant having you with me right now. I miss you and I hope Niki's taking care of you. I know it's your decision whether we're still together, and I respect whatever you decide. But if there's anything I can do to fix this, I will do it. Trust me. I care for you too much to lose you.

He didn't want to be one of those cringe people that said I love you to their partner only when they were in a tough spot. As much as this situation sucks, it made him realize that he may love Isla more than he'd thought. And he hoped there was a time in the future when he could tell her.
