"So this is the place your uncle lives?" Kaz asked me.

I nodded my head as we stood in front of it. I looked at the steel gate, it was unlocked. I didn't think anything of it because many houses do that.

"Well, let's go meet your uncle." I stood in front for a bit before opening the gate some more, and walking up and staring a the half-opened door.

"His door is opened?" My eyes widened. It was almost like my worst fear did come true. Did they kill my uncle?

"Here I'll do it..." Kaz leaned a hand and opened it wider. We looked shocked as my uncle's body was on the floor.

"What happened here?" I asked. I looked around, there was a struggle. His little bookshelf fell over, there was blood here and there.

"He didn't want to go down without a fight." My jaw dropped as the picture frame of my mother and him was left broken into pieces.

"We need to go," I told Kaz.

I walked outside and till I made it to the car.

"Fun beachy vacation is over?" I nodded my head. He groaned and got in the car.

"Just when I thought we would be having fun." I sat back and crossed my arms. He started it and waited till we were at a stoplight.

"I can't believe this bull crap. My going away from school is finally here and I can't even enjoy it..." He mumbled.

My smile turned into a sudden frown. "You know you don't have to stay. You can leave me alone..." I suggested. I was ruining other people's life's and I didn't think it was worth ruining his either.

"I told you you'd be safe. And I made a promise within myself to keep you safe. Plus, you're a once in a timeline type of girl. I wouldn't stay if you made me." We're quite far from the beach house and I knew driving there was going to take a while especially due to traffic.

"If you're willing to move from place to place then sure..." I looked out the window. I couldn't believe they killed him. I mean why am I so surprised? They probably know everything and are just in it for the chase.

I'm his prey and he's the predator. At any moment he can come out but he chooses to stay in the shadows, waiting for the perfect time. When I'm truly happy to come to destroy it all again.

It was unbelievable to what extent I had to go through to not be caught by him. These past few days I've been feeling like giving up and it hasn't been that long since I parted ways with Constantine and Verona. They'd be probably free but knowing Emrys he had a plan for them. If they know where I went he would find them to get that intel.

"Niovi. You kind of just zoned out there." I turned to look at him, his eyes were focused on the road.

"Huh? Sorry I didn't hear you."

"I said that I called Luca. They should be packing up everything so we can hurry and leave." I rubbed my nose.

"Good. Then we can hit the road to the next state. And eventually, see where that takes us." We both sat in complete silence.

He was thinking of our next moves and I was thinking of Emrys.

'You're such a genius...why not come out while you still had me?' I asked myself.

-

"That was the last bag. We're ready to go." Luca said getting in the back and sitting next to Eris.

"Y'all are crazy for helping me, and coming with me." Eris flashed me a smile.

"Isn't that what friends do for each other. We'll be right by your side till death do us part." Luca looked over at her.

"Isn't that what they say during weddings?" He started bursting out in laughter.

"Her uncle just died and you're laughing, so insensitive." She crossed her arms and looked over at me, "Am I right?" She rolled her eyes, grinning away from Luca.

"I wasn't trying to be..." He said under his breath.

"Any-who! I wanted to note that we will be going to the two states near this one and staying at Arlyne." Kaz played some music to ease up the intense fear, that he could probably smell from me.

The music overlapped my judgment I couldn't think properly.

'See what I told you?' I heard my wolf's voice.

'You act like you're so in love but what were you thinking when he threw me to the ground? Did you think of him the same? Did his words not hurt you?' She went quiet. Not even one sound did I hear from her.

"What do you think will happen next?" Luca asked us, looking around.

"Who knows...all I know is that we'll be traveling around the world." Eris smiled, her eyes showed just how excited she was. Her body shakes as the excitement became too much.

"We can do whatever we want. I think this is a win for us." Luca bit his lip, trying to hide his excitement.

"Don't get too excited. Moving from places to places will eventually get old..." Kaz sighed, wiping his eyes.

"Are you tired?" I asked him, he wiggled his finger indicating that he wasn't.

"Have I not told you?" He looked over at me, "Vampires can go days without being tired." He returned to the road.

"There's a lot of differences between us. Like werewolf has a predestinate mate while vampires can choose who they want. You guys are half dead and I'm..." I tried to think, but I couldn't figure anything out.

"You can shift at will. Both are very surprisingly different." I stared at Luca who shifted in his spot when I said 'half dead'

"Does anyone else think it's weird how people refer to us as half-dead?" Eris and Kaz shook their heads.

"It's nothing personal. But there's nothing functioning in our body. I think it's safe to say that we are half dead." Kaz noted. "It is what it is. Watching everyone around you age while you stay alive...can be the depressing side of it all..." Kaz had put on the A/C.

As everyone else was bunkering down, I chose to close my eyes.
