How Peculiar

Stephen's eyes blinked rapidly at the stream of light slipping through his blinds. Who knew what time it was. He sat up and stretched. He was quite tired.

For a moment he had to think and wonder why he was tired, It all came back to him though. Ah, he sighed, I don't think I'll be going to another one of those for a good minute.

He hated being tired and waking up late. Parties were exhausting.

Eventually he found the strength to get up and head to the kitchen for whatever meal it was time for. He glanced at the digital clock in the living room, 1:45pm. Lunch?

For some odd reason, he didn't really feel hungry, despite missing breakfast, and decided to just grab a water from the fridge and heading back to his room.

He stretched across his bed the wrong way and let his feet dangle off the edge. His hands, which had at some point grabbed his phone from his nightstand, opened his phone and began to read some articles online and flip through photos on social media.

Ugh, Stephen felt an uncommon boredom. Usually he'd stress about something or try to cram in some last minute work, but for now he felt like there was nothing to do that was worth his time. But why?

Oh, It was probably because of Gray.

Something about him... maybe it was his sweet smiles or good intentions. Perhaps it was how much he seemed to care for Stephen, even though he claimed that he didn't want anything to do with him.

He's adorable.

Adorable? Stephen quickly pushed the thought from his mind.

He sat straight up, and covered his face in his hands. God, why was he thinking of him like that?! Ugh. Nope he absolutely didn't think Gray was cute, friends don't think that way. Nope absolutely not.

He got up again and walked out his bedroom door, heading back to the kitchen. Maybe he'd actually get food this time.

Though, as soon as he stepped foot outside his room he ran into Gray. And when I say ran into, he legitimately ran into him.

"OMG, ARE YOU GOOD?" Stephen asked anxiously.

"What?" Gray seemed unbothered, "Yea I'm good."

He was wrapped up in a blanket, a rather soft and fluffy one at that, and was wearing an oversized black sweatshirt and long sports shorts.

Stephen smiled, "Good Morning!"

"Afternoon."

Gray walked to the kitchen and got a bottle a water from the fridge, though, immediately upon touching it, he realized it was cold and put it back. He then attempted to get a room temperature water from the high shelf above the cabinets. However, it was obvious he wouldn't be able to reach it.

Stephen giggled and walked over. He reached up over him from behind, his torso rather close to Gray's, and grabbed a water. He grinned and handed it to him. Oblivious to Gray's blush and embarrassed "Thanks".

He walked back over and sat on the couch, fully ingulfed in his blanket.

"You cold?"

"Just a bit." He replied bringing his hands out to open his water.

"Mm-hmm." Stephen took a seat next to Gray. And started to wonder what they could talk about. He loved to hear Gray talk.

"It's about to get colder." Gray stated, breaking Stephen's thoughts. As usual, he thought fondly.

"It is, " He began, "Should be expecting snow any day now?"

"Mm." Gray snuggled up a bit more in his blanket. Then he looked at Stephen and took an edge of it, and put it over his lap.

Stephen flushed. Gray was sharing a blanket with him. He wasn't cold at all, but he couldn't reject his gesture. Gray smiled and leaned so that he rested on Stephen's shoulder.

"If it snows I swear to god..." He started, but eventually trailed off as Stephen took his arm and put it around Gray's shoulder.

Stephen was quite tense, he didn't know if that was the right thing to do, or if it would make him mad at all. It quite worried him. He honestly found it hard to believe that someone could make him doubt his every action and word, especially someone he hardly knew like this.

How peculiar.

Gray tucked his head a bit closer to Stephen, his body fitting to Stephen's side, almost like a puzzle piece. While Gray seemed unbothered Stephen was internally freaking out.

"I'm not tired yet." Gray said.

"What?"

"Wanna go get lunch," He paused, "Dinner? Lunch? Food?"

If Stephen could've blushed any harder, he would've. Gray always seemed to catch him off guard.

Tentatively he rubbed Gray's shoulder with the hand he had draped around Gray's shoulder. Gray leaned into his touch, instead of pulling away as Stephen had expected.

"Yea Gray." He said with a scheming smile, "Let's go on a date!"

Gray giggled.

Stephen's heart fluttered, it was the first time he had every heard Gray laugh. It was small and filled him with even more joy than his smile.

"Yea Stephen, Let's go on a date." He said, still laughing.

Stephen couldn't believe it.
