I was pulled back by Blaire, as the young man approached us. "Hi, I'm Morgan-" He was cut off.
"Lynne, power armor, go." Blaire ordered with hand on her bloodied sword, holding it backward.
I dashed to my power armor and jumped in. The men in Power armor stomped their way over, guns pointed; their armor was T-45D, a small forward unit leaking into the region from the Enclave. Their armor branded the Enclave logo and they carried the AER9 Laser Carbines.
I flicked on my helmet lamp and illuminated the full squad, they in response turned their lights on.
"Look, I don't want to make any trouble, I'm just here to clean up now that you have everything under control." Morgan says in a leading voice.
I look over at Blaire; she was in a combat stance. One foot forward, her back down a bit, ready to pounce with her sword at the ready.
"I'll take the super mutant and the envoy here to the town for further treatment. Ehh. Thanks for saving her." Morgan concludes in his conversation.
I look down at the woman I just treated, looking her up and down as men in combat armor with a white cross on their green shoulder pads ran over with a stretcher. They lifted her and slide the stretcher over to her. The 4 men then lifted a corner end of the stretcher each and started walking the woman back to the town.
"Envoy?" I asked.
The boy looks up at me, "Oh, ya!" He smiles. "That woman is an Envoy from the Enclave moving to a town nearby to negotiate assimilation. We got word that her aircraft had been shot down and crash-landed near here so we headed in this direction when we heard gunfire."
I looked at the boy who was maybe about 17 or 18. He was wearing shorts and a short-sleeve. "An envoy... So, you're the cleanup crew if the Envoy fails, right?" I say in a normal tone.
The boy huffs before turning around and leaning back a bit to put his hands behind his head. "Well, of course, if we can't take the whole USA, then what's the point of reuniting America? Gotta get dirty sometimes to make things right sometimes, right?"
I continued to just look at him. "What military are you with anyways?" He asks, shooting a glance over to me for an answer with that smirk on his face.
"We're Enclave. I am Warrant Officer Weskier, this here is Daniel, Mark. And that jumpy bunny, is Blaire" I say pointing at Blaire last.
The boy looks me up and down, "Warrant? Where is your rank at?" He pushes, while the other troopers continue to hold us at gun point.
I reach into my satchel, pull out my rank patch, and slap it onto my satchel facing him. "We're moving through here to get to the South Idaho National Guard Depot." I say as the distant sound of a helicopter filled the area.
The boy looks at me and huffs again. "Alright. I am a Captain with the 1st Enclave Shock Troop. Thanks again for savin' the envoy. Humanity will prevail with people like you, let me reward you a bit. As were a bit out there, I'm guessing you are trying to get to your destination as quick as possible. Ill give you our personal supplies of food and water for the journey!"
Morgan turns around and orders his men to give up 3 canteens, their IFAKs, and their personal field rations to us as a thank you. I felt kind of bad and as if this was a trap, but we kind of needed it. I nodded at Daniel and Mark to take the items and told them to pack up. After receiving the items, the soldiers lowered their aim from us and faced the mutant that was finished being roped up.
The sound of that helicopter broke our attention as it had hovered right above us and started slowly dropping altitude. They wanted to place the mutant on the aircraft, it was approaching us fast. It had spot lights on and crash indicator lights flashing. As it got right over the mutant, I could see that it was a Vertibird.
