Sayaka ran as fast as her legs could take her. She was panting heavily because of her unfortunate lack of exercise.
She was late again, because her alarm clock was broken. Although her excuses were always vague in their own way.
While she ran through the main building's entrance, she could see the Ultimates moving away from her, giving her space to walk through.
That could've been nice if they didn't start mocking her for her school uniform. They barely even tried being quiet. Being a Reserve Course student is rough.
She may have the looks she knew well enough, but the talent not so. Sometimes people even mistake her for an Ultimate when, in fact, she was not. They were always disappointed when she corrected them.
She may be a natural at being a 'psychic,' but she wasn't very sure if good intuition qualified as a talent. Other than predicting things that weren't even a hundred percent accurate and having an average singing voice, she really doesn't have much going on for her.
She wasn't even the smartest, either. She may be an honor student but that meant nothing for the Super Highschool Level Students. She was the most average person ever. Being average is also rough.
Soon enough, through her degrading thoughts, she reached the Reserve Course building's entrance. She didn't want to rush, because her classmates wouldn't really care if she was late or not, but she still tried to be a good student. Key word: tried.
And plus, being late only meant wasted lessons and wasted tuition money from her parents. And she didn't even need to go to class, she just goes because it guarantees at least a bit of success for her college.
At times like these she just wishes she was an Ultimate.
She was about to push the entrance door open before someone called out to her.
"Hey!"
It was Natsumi Kuzuryuu, her upperclassman. She was smiling as she waved at Sayaka, emerging from the corner.
She had a brother in the Main Course, the Ultimate Yakuza. Sayaka only smiled as the blonde approached her.
"Natsumi-senpai." Sayaka greeted with a small bow. Natsumi only grinned. "No need for formalities, Maizono-san! We're friends, aren't we?" she said, her smile only widening.
"Anyway, do you want to hang out? I'm skipping class today." she continued, looking around for anyone that might be listening.
Sayaka laughed nervously, "Uh," the girl stared at her expectantly. "I'm sorry, Natsumi-senpai, but I..."
Sayaka trailed off when the entrance door pulled open, revealing a dark green-haired girl.
"Sato-senpai?..." Sayaka muttered.
"Maizono? What are you doing out here?" Sato asked. "Come in! This is the third time this week you've come late!" she scolded. Sayaka shrunk back at the scolding stare of her other upperclassman. She sounds like my mom...
Natsumi rolled her eyes at this. "Whatever. Forget about her, Maizono. So, are you up for it?" the blonde continued, ignoring Sato.
Sato's brows lifted. "Absolutely not! Maizono, come here!" Sato snapped angrily after hearing what Natsumi had said.
Natsumi sighed, glancing at a boy beside Sato. "Hajime, don't tell me you're with this suck-up." she said, pointing her head at Sato's direction.
Sayaka took it as her chance to just enter the door and Sato gladly moved away to give her space to enter.
