So on the Flicker Discord server, todays question of the day was "If you could make a flower, what would it be?" or something along those lines. So I decided to create a flower native to Pandora :)
Don't mind that it's one long paragraph, I wrote this on Discord and only tweaked it a little bit when I copy/pasted it here.
Portokalí Louloúdi (the Greek word for "orange flower"), also called the Kalílou for short, is a sunset yellow flower with round petals and a large amount of pollen in the center, making up 60% of the flower's mass. The pollen inside, however, is hypoallergenic, meaning you won't have to worry about them giving you issues during the spring. The scent of the flower helps to improve people's moods and is quite literally indescribable, as it tends to match the person's favorite scents. It is hard to make tea with this flower, as the pollen easily makes liquids thick and slimy, but it can be used in sweet treats and desserts for a much more enhanced flavor and texture. The flower itself is also completely edible, and, much like the scent, helps with serotonin levels and tastes different between person to person depending on what they're craving the most at the moment, even tending to match the preferred texture despite always feeling like a soft velvet to the touch. The best part is that these flowers are always alive year-round, even making it through the harshest winters without having to close up its leaves, making it readily available any time of the year without taking up any space in a greenhouse. The one downside is that they only tend to grow their biggest when near the coast of some continents, including North America, South America, Europe, and Pandora, so they do need a large amount of water to keep them at their finest. Animals love these plants just as much as people do, so they also must be protected from outside threats. These plants tend to range between 1 to 2 feet in height, the tallest ever recorded being almost 6 feet tall and owned by a flower shop owner, Carolina Ashlen, back in 2003. These plants were completely native to Pandora until people let them flourish in other continents, meaning that if you find one outside of Pandora, you're looking at an invasive species.
That's all I have, more updates later maybe.
