"I do !!"

It's been hours since Mike left home. His phone is switched off and nobody knows where he is. He is not at his parents' place. I tried calling few of his friends, asking them casually if Mike was there. Some of them grew suspicious as in 10 years this never happened and I lied to them that we are playing a game.

Rachel is all panicked. I told her everything from day one. She doesn't hate me but she is quite mad at me for doing it and most importantly for hurting Mike. I guess whoever comes to know this will hate me for what I did to Mike, because it's Michael Sinclair, who has always kept me happy, did anything to make me happy and who is loved so much by the people in my life for that. They are right. People suffer being in toxic relationships , facing abuses , losing self-respect and peace of mind. But I got the perfect man who has never hurt me in a decade, who would never betray me in the many decades to come and I hurt him. There are chances I might hate myself if Mike doesn't forgive me.

"He shouldn't have left though...!", Rachel says. She is staring at me and I'm kind of scared that she might hit me. I hope she wouldn't.

"He had all the reasons to....", I said like a great sacrificing soul after committing all the hideous acts and making all the stupendous decisions. But deep down I feel that packing & leaving is kind of an exaggerated reaction. After all, we've been together for so long that neither of us know how to even live without each other.

"We've got to find him. We can't just sit here and whine all day.", Rach says in a serious tone and I agree by nodding. "Yeah ... nodding and sitting in the same place for hours wouldn't bring him back either...", she mocks.

"I am trying to call people and find where he is.", I say her scrolling through the contacts in my mobile phone of people who might know where Mike is.

"You know what.... sit there ! You don't deserve him. Let him be gone.", she snaps and sits back folding her hands.

"What... I am trying... you are seeing me try.. what more do you expect of me ?", I snap back at her, ignoring the fact that she is staying here for me knowing what I've done is wrong.

"Exactly. Do you think Mike would have just sat there and called people if you had packed your bags and left ? Remember the one time when your phone died and you went to dinner with your colleagues? And how he ran from one place to another for hours to find you?", she raises her voice and makes a very valid point. He did scan the entire city that day assuming I was kidnapped. I smile remembering how horrified and mad he was when he found me. And Rachel is right. Mike wouldn't give up on me just like that. He will fight for me and may be he is expecting me to fight for him now. I get up , pick my phone , my wallet and my blue handbag with my old notepad. I am going to fight for him. I will find him, talk to him and bring him back.

"Don't come back without him", Rachel orders sitting cross-legged on my couch. I nod affirmatively with a smile. I still am a little scared of her, as I always have been.

Alright. Mission Michael is on. My first stop is his office, which has been his second home always. I am driving faster than usual but I'm still under the limits. I also look on both sides of the road as I drive trying to quickly glance through the pavement and the small shops. Suddenly I realize it's stupidity to search for a well-known sophisticated lawyer in the streets. Even if was crying he'd be in a star hotel suite and not in the streets. So I head straight to the office.

I push open the glass door and there are people looking at me hearing the sound of my heels. Some give me a weird look which probably might be for my attire. Some even look at me from top to toe with a "You don't belong here" expression on their face but I'm not bothered by any of it. I quickly go to the woman in the reception who is smiling at me already. She is quite new to this building but she has seen me once or twice and Mike did introduce me. If she is smiling either Mike is here and she is ready to welcome me, or she has no idea that Mike is missing. I try to recall her name as I walk towards her but it's hard. I also try to figure out what to ask her without letting her know about the mess I had created.
