The beat of loud pop songs pummels my ear drums and flashing lights burns my eyes. A group of freshman near me are smoking marijuana. Someone's hand is on my lower back and it's definitely not Jaxon's. I hate everything about this, but at least I look sexy.
Speaking of Jaxon, he's back with two red solo cups full to the brim with red juice.
"W-w-w-w-what's in this?" I ask.
"Pure fuel!" And he gulps down the juice with one swallow.
I'm not drinking alcohol. I toss the cup into a nearby trash can. This place is too crowded and the lights are hurting my eyes. We need to go to a quieter place.
"J-j-j-j-Jaxon?"
"Yes, my spicy lemon sugar pie cupcake sweetie doll sprinkle puff?"
"C-c-c-can w-we go somewhere m-m-more. . . . p-p-p-p-private?"
"Of course," he growls, smirking. He wraps his fingers around my wrist and leads me down a hallway; and who's down there, but Leo and Melissa. Jaxon stops in his tracks.
"You're in our way!" he barks.
"Weren't we down here first?" Leo spits.
Jaxon lets go of my wrist, stepping towards Leo. "Shut up."
"Make me, cousin." Leo moves closer to Jaxon, seething.
Jaxon shoves Leo backwards and his back slams into the wall. He grabs the slightly shorter boy by the collar and leans down. Teeth bared, he hisses, "You're so glad we're in public right now. You have no idea of all the terrible things I'd do to you if we were alone."
He drops Leo and pivots to me. "Let's go, Y/-N."
"O-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-okay."

"So- uh, why'd you want to leave all the action? What was wrong with the party out there?"
"It was just t-t-too loud."
"Well, what do you want to do?" he says, eyeing me.
I don't say anything.
"Y/N?"
"I-I-I-I hope this d-doesn't come off as rude, J-j-j-j-jaxon, b-but y-y-y-you should be nicer t-t-t-to Leo. He is your f-f-family, after all. Y-y-y-your b-b-blood! D-d-don't y-you want to have a good r-relationship w-w-w-with your f-f-fam-"
Jaxon puts his hand up to me. "Y/N, don't worry. We're not actually cousins!" he sighs. "See, in the sixth grade we told everyone that we're cousins as a joke, but when we tried to tell the truth, nobody believed us. So. . . . we've just been kind of going along with it?"
"W-wait. So, y-y-you're not actually related?"
"Nope."
"Like at all?"
He shakes his head.
"Unbelievable." I laugh. "That's so. . . . extra! But why aren't you guys friends?"
"I-" he hesitates. "I don't know. Something happened back in eighth grade, but it was nothing really. Don't worry about it."
"O-o-o-oh."
author's note:
uh...y'all should I publish another story for Leo and Jaxon? Cause now I have a whole plot formed in my head and I want to write about it-
