(Hello hello, I promise we didn't die, or get arrested, or started doing drugs-)

Mehmet looked around as he walked on the dusty road. His face was covered, just in case, anyone saw him. The man told him to come alone... to an empty road... with no people... alone. 'I hope I don't get kidnapped or anything.'

Bashulu Ana always told him not to go anywhere alone, Mehmet always brushed that advice off, but now he was kind of regretting it.

(Listen to your mother, children.)

Mehmet stopped exactly where the man had told him, hand on his weapon. After a moment, a group of men walks out of the bushes, surrounding him. 'Well, this is convenient.'  "Are you ready for the truth?"

A portly man who seems to be in charge steps forward, his face uncovered. Mehmet tries to read his face, wondering if it was a trick question. "I'm ready," Mehmet says confidently, masking the uncertainty bubbling inside him.

Within a split second, two men step forward, holding their swords to his throat. Mehmet blinks, 'Oh no, not again, how many times will this happen.' "Now, we'll put you through the tests." Mehmet looked around, he didn't like the sound of that.

They walked into the deepest end of the forest, and with every passing second, Mehmet's concern grew. "Where are we going?" Mehmet asked, his curiosity peaking, and the man turned around suddenly, signaling to his men.  Mehmet heard someone step towards him, but before he could reach his weapons, everything goes black.

(Mehmet not big brain)

When Mehmet woke up, a bright light shined in his face. His hands and feet were tied, and his weapons were nowhere to be found. "What the hell?" He murmured, looking around the dim cave. "Your test starts now. All you have to do is escape before the flame reaches the end of the rope and you turn to ashes."

The voice seemed to come from the entrance of the cave and Mehmet turned to look at what seemed a barrel of explosives. "Sweet," Mehmet grumbled sarcastically. There was nothing insight that could be used, well, except more fire. There were multiple torches on the wall which would most likely only add to his demise.

Mehmet blew out a breath, "O-kay, what to do... Not that big of a deal, I mean I'll only die if I don't do this right. And if I do die, then I would be a Shaheed which is good, right? Crap, I'm wasting time."

Mehmet took a second to think, wondering whether or not he still had his hidden dagger. He tried to move his hands, and he was just able to reach the flap of his clothes. After feeling around for a moment, he was able to grasp the handle.

Mehmet glanced around, the spark was getting closer and closer to blowing him up. Mehmet hurriedly started cutting the thick ropes, "Come on, come on, just cut already." Mehmet whispered in frustration, and only a moment later the rope broke apart.

Mehmet stood as fast as he could without falling over and untied the ropes around his legs. He stomped the spark out before it reach any closer to the explosive. "Finally, I don't have to worry about getting blown up!"

Mehmet walked outside, squinting as the bright sun hit his eyes. There, the same men walked into the clearing, "Congratulations, you've passed the first test."

About 2 days later, Mehmet walked to the place Sencer had said to meet him. Mehmet looked around in confusion as he saw no one around, but then Sencer jumped out from behind a tree, "Boo!"

Mehmet jumped about a foot back, startled as Sencer laughed, "You're so annoying, Sencer." Mehmet whined, making Sencer chuckle, "Yeah, yeah, so how has your mission been going?"

"Weird, considering I also got blown up," replied Mehmet and Sencer only nodded. "If I'm being honest, that happens more than I'd like to admit." The nonchalant way Sencer spoke made it seem like it happened to him every day, which was probably true.

"How's your mission been? In Shalamzar?" Mehmet inquired, and Sencer narrowed his eyes at the younger boy, already anticipating what he was going to ask next.

"My mission has been fine..." Sencer said vaguely to which Mehmet raised an eyebrow, "Did you run into Emir Ilteber? Or Turna hatun?"  Mehmet teased and Sencer groaned, "Why must you do this?" "Because," Mehmet pointed out, "I'm your brother, which means it is my job to make fun of you at all costs."

"So," Mehmet finished, dramatically placing his hand down on the ground in front of him, "Tell me, have you even talked to her?" Sencer rolled his eyes, "Of course, I have, Mehmet, who do you think I am?" Despite the sarcasm in his answer, there was a thoughtful downcast to Sencer's eyes as if he was making a difficult decision.

"Something's up," Mehmet concluded, narrowing his eyes at the older boy, "Sencer, what did you do?"

Sencer let out a short snort of laughter at the accusation, "I didn't do anything, why do you assume I did something?" "Because you're Sencer," Mehmet said bluntly, "And you're stupid."

Sencer scoffed, "Look who's talking. And I haven't done anything, I'm just thinking about something." "Then tell me," Mehmet reasoned, "Since you're clearly having a brain fart over it."

"I'm not having a-" Sencer laughed, shaking his head, "Fine, I was just thinking about something Hace told me. This whole thing is dangerous." "Dangerous describes your whole life, Sencer," Mehmet deadpanned.

"That's not what I meant, are you going to let me finish or not?" Sencer asked, and Mehmet nodded, "Yeah, go on." Sencer sighed, leaning back against the tree, "It's not dangerous for me, but for her. I don't want her to get hurt because of me."

"So, what're you doing to do? Stop talking to her?" Mehmet inquired, and Sencer shook his head, "I don't know." Mehmet thought for a moment, "Well, I know nothing about this, but I do know one thing, you look happier lately. You're not constantly stressing and you're just more relaxed, you know?"

Sencer was silent for a second and then spoke in a quiet voice, "Did you, Mehmet, just compliment me?" Mehmet scoffed, "Don't let it get to your head, you're still annoying."
