"What a terrible night for a curse," said an old woman, who was hunched over a table next to the party, "wouldn't you say, young ones?"
Syaoran was the first to respond. His eyes popped open, and darted to the lady, "What? What do you mean?" He took his feet off of the table and leaned his chair back down to the ground, ready to listen. This could be good.
"That I know a place locked under a terrible curse that arrises every night. The town itself has been abandoned and turned into a fortress. Every home turned into a barracks or storage chamber. It seems abandoned from sunrise to sunset, but as soon as that sun is gone... the dead rise en masse. An army. Slowly raising their ranks. Lead by the Lich King, who sits atop a throne made of the bones of those who fight against him and lose."
Syaoran stood up and walked to the woman's table to listen to her story, "Please, continue," he waved to his group to come over with him. Once they were all settled, the woman nodded and continued.
"When I was a young girl, about all of you age," she nodded to the group, "I lived in this town. I had a boy I was arranged to marry. I was happy," he smiled wistfully, "then the Lich rose. An old kind who once had ruled over a castle where our village now stands. He rose using a ring... called The Ring of Skulls. If the wearer has enough resolve for something... anything... it gives them immense power. Apparently, it can even raise the dead. Someone had to have put the ring on his corpse." She took a shaky breath, "Well, when he rose, he brought an army with him. They killed all of the men, women, and children. My mother and father escaped with me and my younger brother. Everyone else... they were killed, and now apart of his ever growing army. My love... he is, too."
She paused to see if they were all listening. After she made sure, she continued, "I hired a few men to go scout the fortress out for me. The army is roughly 500 strong. That's not including his honor guard. Of 4. But his honor guard is not to be reckoned with. Each of them have a special attribute. Abilities." She pulled out 4 slips of paper, "The King himself is a different story. The men I hired couldn't get anything on him. These papers have everything the men gathered on the honor guard. Can you handle it? I'll pay handsomely... and you can take anything you think would be of value from the village that the king has put there. So long as you leave anything that looks like it was there before the king invaded."
Syaoran already knew his answer. He didn't care if the other 3 helped or not. He got to take anything he wanted from the village! The king could have a treasury! He was in.
"I'll go." The lady slid him the 4 papers. Each had a slightly detailed picture of the honor guard. Their strengths. Weapons. Abilities. Everything known about just scouting their training. Syaoran read over them.-Antiquites
