Chapter 1. Xiao Chen

"Power is absolute. Weakness is unacceptable." Those were the words eched above my sects' iron gates. My name is Xiao Chen and I have no natural talent whatsoever like my fellow family members who have reached glorious achievements in the martial world. My brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts and uncles belittle me and tell me that only because I'm a blood relative they haven't cast me out of the Xiao sect. Though I always want to lash out and retaliate, I would only be beaten to within a inch of my life and have no way to seek revenge. My father, Xiao Che, still dotes on me and always seek healers and miracle men to try ascertain why I cannot cultivate like my fellow clansmen but to no avail, they all have the same answer,"No talent to do so". Though it pains me so to see my father sad and be ridiculed by our fellow clansmen for having a son with no future in the martial world, he defends me regardless. So even though I cannot cultivate, I still do not leave myself idle. I train my body doing more than my fair share of daily chores around the sect. So in a sense, my body is stronger than the average youngster my age but without a cultivation base, I'd still be beaten. Tomorrow I will be 18 years old so I think I will go out of the sect for a stroll around the forest just to clear my mind and not be in eyesight of my fellow clan members. "Xiao Chen, why are you still in the sect? Haven't you embarrassed yourself enough and caused your father years of ridicule for being a disappointment?" The voice belonged to my cousin, Xiao He, who happens to be the patriarchs' son. He currently is at the body tempering stage and can kill me with a single slap. "Senior cousin words are harsh but true. I am a disappointment to my father due to the fact that I cannot cultivate therefore I do more than my share of chores around the sect to.make up for it. I'm sure senior cousin would agree that when it comes to chores, I am unparalleled." Xiao He laughs then replies,"Junior cousin you are correct, when it comes to chores, you are indeed unmatched by your senior cousin. But this senior did not come here to make wise cracks with you. I have come to inform you that the patriarch and the elders have decided to expelled from the sect due to the fact that we are losing face amongst the three great families of having such a waste as you. I suggest you make haste and go say your goodbyes to your father then leave the sect immediately before this senior has to expell you myself." I could not even fathom the words that Xiao He told me. The only place that I have ever known is casting me out like trash. I got up and rushed back to my father's villa in the north section of the sect and upon my arrival, the twelve elders along with the patriarch was present. My father with his head down and arms at his side with a look of anguish upon his face at the harsh reality that his only son has to leave the sect forever. The patriarch, Xiao Long, voiced erupted like thunder when he spoke,"Xiao Chen, you are to leave the sect immediately and never return for you have no natural talent to cultivate martial arts and your father, damn him, failed to inform you as to why you cannot cultivate. Your meridians were damaged due to complications when your mother gave birth to you. She died with regrets that she was the cause of you being such trash that she fretted herself to death and your father saw fit to conceal it from you. If he was the man that I thought he was 18 years ago, he should granted you mercy and end your life right then instead of having you go through such hardship around the clan." A sudden eruption of anger swelled from my stomach to my throat as tears flowed from my eyes as I listened to the patriarchs' harsh words about my father and mother. I looked at my father, then turned my gaze towards the patriarch and said,"You pompous bastard, you dare dishonor my mother who cannot defend herself and even go as far as saying she died with regrets of birthing me. Your nothing but a old fool who's eyes have been clouded by nothing but power and have no regard for your own family. You say I went through hardships cause of my father, I say it was a blessing in disguise because it gave me a opportunity to live as a normal in this sect. I know I am nothing more than trash but mark my words, one day I will become a peerless immortal and make your regret ever banishing me from this sect and disrespecting my mother and father." The elders and patriarch just laughed with such contempt that it made me sick. I walked up to my father and reassured him that I will make him and mother proud of me and won't return until I stand above all who doubt me. "Xiao Chen, becareful in the outside world. There are many monstrous beasts and evil cultivators out there than will use their might to destroy. Be wary of your surrounding and take care of yourself. I have faith in you and if your mother was still alive she would have agreed with me when I say I know you will become a peerless immortal. I love you my son and fare thee well." Those were the last words my father spoke to me as I hugged him and walked towards the gates of my sect. All of my other family members were spewing ill comments about me and saying that I won't survive the night but in due time they will know that the name Xiao Chen shall ring across the Sky Celestial continent as the peerless immortal.
