Chapter VIII

"Teachers found two unconscious students inside the gymnasium, they have their eyes gouged out !" Haruna exclaims as her whole body is shaking. Touko's eyes widen and lose a little of their bluish color, shocked.

...

"Wh...w-what ?..Really ?!"
Mei nods automatically, while playing on her phone, looking disinterested. As for Haruna, she just stares at the ground, asserting in the same way as the younger one.

"A-and...who is it ?"

"Well, high school students... some boys who are probably in 10th or 11th grade, well, it would appear."

"But..what the hell happened ??" The ponytail student keeps on asking questions.

"N-nobody knows, calm down Tou !" Haruna says to her friend. Mei quickly looks up as she notices the restlessness of the two young women, then opens her mouth. "Wait- They're dead ?!" she yells.

"No ! The guys were attacked in the face and especially in the eyes, their eyeballs are punctured. But they are still alive !" explains Haruna.

"It's nothing eh, there's no point in screaming and panicking" Mei makes a disapproving noise with her tongue.

Touko looks to the ground. She's right, there's worst in life...But why am I still able to feel these kind of emotions, I've seen worst. She slowly raises her cold hands to her chest and intensely stares at them. Way...worst

"There's good reason to tho..." Adds Haruna. 

The three girls continue to walk. With a dead and cold silence.

Then Mei's phone is ringing. She picks up. The two girls stare at each other, letting the murderous silence rest heavily on their fragile shoulders. The atmosphere is so grim and dark that anyone get chills. Haruna instantly breaks the silence.

"Too much is happening today" she complains. "...tell me about it..." her friend smirks with a jaded and sarcastic expression.

"I mean, Mei's dizzy spell and now...This !" adds the raven haired student.

Touko stares at her friend and lets out a nervous giggle. If only you knew, Haru- she thinks. Mei hangs up and approaches the duo. "Sorry, it was my mom. She wants me home right now !"

"Oh..ok then, see ya !"

Mei leaves to go home, trips, and falls flat on her face, she falls to the ground. BLURP.

[Nah I'm kidding BAHA]

Mei goes home, leaving the two older ones behind. One of them watches her go with an expression of concern, hoping she wont faint anymore. "Okay... it's time to put this story aside for now." Hearing this remark, Haruna just nods her head gently. "I'll try to get more info on it"

"Ah, thanks Haru...but you better stay out of it, it's not good for your sanity, believe me haha"

"But now...we have to go home tho, we have a lot of homework to do" adds Touko.

"Alright, we'll continue the discussion tonight !" Haruna takes her phone from her pocket and shakes it in front of her jaded friend's face.

"Like I have a choice anyway"

"Exact Tou !" she shouts, already running towards her neighborhood.

Touko POV

I turn the key in the lock and enter the house. Then I double-lock the front door, correctly, as always.

"Mama, I'm home !" No response. Well...isn't she back from work ? The only sound I hear is the creaking stairs. I hear Darkness come down to see me. The cat meows and runs over to me, rubbing against my legs.
