Chapter XIII

Saturday.

"Meet me at the entrance of Nimbasa."

is the last message that Hugh sent to Mei that night.

The next morning, Mei manages to get up before 1pm, and decides to prepare her clothes just before going to the shower. She is happy. Nervous and a little bit doubtful, but happy, as usual. She gets ready, leaves her room and heads to the kitchen. She looks around, seemingly looking for something.

"Well, that's right, Ma has a date today."

The sly youngster motivates herself and starts rummaging through the kitchen refrigerator. She firmly grabs the small, pale pink cardboard box that contains the slice of her famous cake. And she puts it on the table, along with the rest of her things such as her keys and purse."Everything is ready but..."

Mei lets out a long sigh and then goes to the closet to get a wooden broom. Several minutes pass while she forces herself to do a minimum of cleaning in the living room, just before leaving. There you go, so mom won't get on my nerves about cleaning ! she thought.

Finally, she leaves her house after having finished preparing herself completely, and without hanging around for once.

Already three o'clock. Arrived in Nimbasa, Mei takes out her cell phone hastily from her pink bag and scans the screen, hesitating. She then scans the place with her eyes to find Hugh. She lets out a sigh and looks at the time on her cell phone, getting impatient and worried.

"BOUH!"

Mei is startled and quickly turns around while letting out a small scream, before realizing that it was her Hugh. He is already hers. She is sure of it.

Her eyes seek the color of his. Her eyelids wiggle as they mentally describe the assemblage of different shades of brown that represents the beautiful iris of each of his eyes.

"Wassup !" he says with a frank smile.

"H-hi Hugh !" she shouts while putting her free hand on her chest. Hugh notices the absence of her other hand, it is hidden behind her back.

"What are you hiding ? Did you hurt your hand ?" he asks as he approaches her. How thoughtful he is, isn't he ? It's almost cute.

Mei looks nervously at the ground and decides to show the pink cardboard box. She takes a deep breath and says with a little blush :

"It's for you !"

Surprised, Hugh takes the box, quickly unties the beautiful cherry-colored bow and opens the box while the girl continues to speak rapidly, looking more determined than ever.

"I offer you a piece of cake that I made yesterday, but Jirachi and I ate it all- there was only this left" she expresses smiling slightly. He shakes his head and gives a little laugh then starts directly to eat the piece of cake, without waiting.

"Uh but wait-- don't you want to sit down first and eat that ??"

"No, it's fine. It's delicious !" he says. Mei smiles with happiness. He adds;

"But not as delicious as you~"

Mei felt her blood migrate to her cheeks and her heart beat against her chest. As for him, proud of his flirty pun, he starts to laugh loudly with a victorious smile. He takes her hand and decides to take her to the center of the small town.
