I was kicking a soccer ball around in our garden. We didn't have any real goals, but I just tried to kick the ball in between the old swing set, and that tree Aiden had broken his arm falling down from. Idiot. It wasn't as fun kicking the ball around. It was too easy to score, and there was no one to dribble around. I was used to it. Most of my brothers are always busy. I considered inviting Nick and Boomer over, but I didn't really want to. I was bored. Too bored to watch a movie but not bored enough to read a book.
I ran down towards the old swing set, and scored. Easy. Boring. I needed a more interesting target. I looked towards the house. I new it was a bad idea. A really bad idea. But... there was this one spot, right between a window and the door leading down to the porch, where the paint had completely chipped off the wall. I shouldn't... I really shouldn't... But before I knew it, I was running towards the soccer, ready to kick, and the ball flew through the air. I couldn't look but I had to. An then I heard glass scatter. With fear I looked towards the window. Nothing had happened, though. I then looked at the porch door, but also that was fine. Confused, I slowly walked towards the porch. I was so focused on the window and door, that I almost didn't see the green broken glass on the porch. I had broken a beer bottle. I sighed, relieved.
Suddenly the porch door was violently opened. Mason had a worried look on his face, and a loaded gun in his hand. He looked around, guarded and confused, but stopped when he looked down, and saw me sitting on the porch trying to pick up all the glass pieces.
"What did you do, Alec?" He questioned, worried.
I shrugged, not wanting to tell him that I purposely shot a soccer towards the house. But I didn't need to. He quickly saw the soccer, and pieced two and two together.
"You idiot," he mumbled and smacked the back of my head. "You know if Joe was here, he would've beat your ass so much."
"Yeah, yeah I know. I'm sorry, alright? I was just bored... you were all busy."
He didn't answer me, but just went inside. I shrugged and kept on picking the glass up in my hand. Less than a minute passed before Mason reappeared, in the doorway with a newspaper in hand.
"Here," he mumbled as he helped me, pack all the glass, carefully inside the rough paper.
"Thanks, Mason."
"Any time, kiddo," he said, and pulled me into a side hug. "Now let me show you how to kick ball. You apparently suck!"
"Hey! Fuck off, man," I laughed and pushed his shoulder.
"Show me what you got, big guy."
We played around for half an hour or so before we heard the front door open and Aiden's and Serigio's voices filled the house.
"We're out here," Mason yelled. We heard shuffling from inside the house, and school bags being thrown but eventually both of them popped their heads outside.
"Oh cool, you're playing soccer! Can we join?"
"Yeah we can play in teams of two!"
"Awesome, but I dibs Mason!"
"Who says I wanna be on your team, Aiden?"
"You need me, Mason."
"As if!"
An hour went by, before Joe also came home. When he saw what we were doing, we basically had to beg him to join us, but eventually he did. The others kept kicking the ball away, and for some stupid reason, I was always the one having to go get it. But our team, Sergio, Joe and I, won big time, even though Aiden and Mason wouldn't admit it. They're sore losers.
"We'll watch a movie tonight," Joe stated, as we entered the kitchen, all of us, completely sweaty.
"I can't," Sergio said. "I have plans."
"Then cancel them."
"Well that's not fair," Sergio sighed.
"We're having family time," Joe said, as he looked through the pizza pamphlet. "Alec, what do you want?"
"You suck!" Sergio yelled.
"Soooo you don't want pizza?" Joe jokingly asked.
"Argh!" Sergio screamed and went upstairs.
"I'd like a pizza, Joe," I carefully said, not really aware of his mood.
"Great! You can pick the movie too, Alec."
I didn't end up picking the movie that night. I had chosen a Batman movie. A classic. Everybody likes Batman, right? Wrong. Joe and Mason had watched it too many times; it was too boring for Aiden, and Sergio was just being difficult. Eventually Mason just decided on Rocky.
"Alec, go make some pop corn," Aiden ordered.
"Go make 'em yourself," I bit back.
"Uhh, feisty." He laughed and ruffled my hair, but to my big surprise, he made pop corn. For every one.
"You don't wan't some, Serg?" Joe asked.
"No." That one word was laced with some much anger, I wouldn't even be able to fit it into a normal sentence. But Joe let him be. I think he felt bad for forcing him to stay home. Aiden nudged Sergio, and whispered something to him that made him smirk. I didn't even bother to wonder what it was. I never knew those kinda things. But it was okay. It was a twin thing.
"I bet I could beat him up," Mason confidently said, any time Sylvester Stallone appeared on screen. "You wouldn't even be able to beat a five year old up," I challenged. He then lunged, full weight, into me, so I fell down onto the floor.
"Oh I couldn't?" he asked, teasing me, as he pinned my arms above me and started tickling my sides. I basically started screaming. I hated being tickled. Knew nothing worse. It almost hurt. "No, no, you could," I screeched.
"I'm sorry, I simply can't hear you," he said, as he continued, our brothers laughing at us.
"Your the strongest person I know, Mason," I screamed with all my power. "Please!"
With one last tickle he let go of me, and we went back to watching the movie. He wasn't that strong though. He had a head start.
