Gods and goddesses like her had no respect these days. Hecate felt the most slighted by the new rulers of the world. She was a Titaness of Magic and Witchcraft, but look at her now! What have they reduced her to? Minor goddess of magic. As if being reduced to a god wasn't humiliating enough.

Could you blame her for turning bitter? She despised the gods. Loathed them even, but they were treating her better than the titans, so Hecate kept her mouth shut, her head down, and minded her own business down in the underworld. Hades was one of the few gods she actually liked. The reserved and misunderstood god of the dead was a great company to keep in the cold and lonely underworld. Not to mention that there weren't many people you could be talking to down there—not counting spirits and ghouls and such.

There were also other gods down in the underworld but Hecate never bothered to get close with them. Charon was a whiner, she had no time for people like him. Not to mention his unhealthy obsession with Italian suits.

No, Charon would not do. He was always following his older brother, Thanatos, like a puppy. He and Thanatos were too busy giving each other handjobs to pay attention to her. Melinoe was decent, but she spent most of the time hanging out with the spirits of the dead. Persephone was absent half of the year.
