" I promise to stay with you forever. . ."

Zoucia is a small country, but not really to a 14 year old girl who lives alone. That girl's name is Sapphire.

Saph, as the village calls her, is a light brown haired, freckled girl. She is small and has bright blue eyes like the deep ocean. Like a sapphire. It shines like the waves rushing onto the shore. You can always tell she is coming from her footsteps, soft but loud enough to her the patter on the gravel paths. The second being her singing. A sweet hum escapes her lips as she runs. Everyday, she hums the same tune, sometimes adding vocals and creating her own lyrics.

Being so young and having to take care of herself she became very close to her neighbors who were happy to help look after her, give her a place to work and to keep her company and almost raise her as their own.

Daily, she would be picking fruit from trees, running errands and doing other small jobs to earn money. All of this while working at a small bakery on the edge of town called 'The Fluffy Buns Bakery'. Though it wasn't big it was cozy, probably why the customers liked it so much. There was always a scent of vanilla and Sapphire at the reception waiting to take someone's order, most likely covered in flour or sugar.

Today was one of her days off, she wasn't aloud to work full time at her age due to the countries rules so she only worked a couple days a week. That is why she would do jobs for neighbors to earn extra.

It was a warm morning during the summer, Saph woke up to the orange rays upon her face. Slowly, she made her way out of bed. She pulled her grey sheets across the bed and sat up, barely opening her eyes. After stretching and rubbing her eyes she made her way downstairs to the kitchen. It was not the most sturdy kitchen but you can't expect much from a 14 year old.

Baskets were stuck to the walls as shelves and held plates and bowls, many of these items were hand sculpted and painted by herself. Her fridge was made by a neighbor who was experienced in engineering and was able to help.

There she took out some strawberries.

Strawberries were one of the fruits that Saph would harvest for her neighbor, an old man who she would call Roddy, Roddy Montgomery. He was frail and weak so her appreciated the help and was happy to pay her for what she did. Sometimes in money and sometimes in what she was doing for him. Meaning that he would let her have a few strawberries when she picked them from the garden for him.

Then she took out the whipped cream.

This she would make herself at the bakery for some of the treats there. This was her specialty. She had learned how to make it when she was young and ever since she has been perfecting the recipe. She knew exactly how much sugar and cream and vanilla was needed to make a sweet, creamy batch that would make someone's face light up at the taste. As she would see very often in the bakery.

Then the bread.

This was freshly made by the one and only Kohaku  Akiyama, the owner of the bakery. She was a god at making baked treats and taught Saph almost everything she knows. Sapphire looks up to her a lot. Though she seems like a stern woman, her facial expressions as though she is angry and her silky black hair pulled into a tight bun. It was rare to see her smile but when she did she never looked as mean or annoyed. Of course, Sapphire saw straight through her strict demeaner and saw how sweet of a woman she really was.

She made a sweet strawberry sandwich for breakfast. Saph had a sweet tooth, a big one at that. She loved this kind of thing for breakfast and would happily only eat sweet things for every meal. Though she didn't. Then got dressed.
