Then she heard a knock at the door. . .

Saph knew that she wasn't expecting someone. Maybe it was someone asking for some help. Maybe Mr Roddy forgot something or Miss Akiyama needed to discuss shifts.

But who she found at the door waiting for her completely shocked her.

Silky black hair with bright red streaks framing the shape of their face, a black shirt with an unfamiliar name on it and some pins on, a red long sleeved shirt underneath it, some fishnet tights and a black pleated skirt. Finally, a pair of large platform boots with large eyeliner and smudged mascara from the rain.

"Hello, I'm sorry to bother you but I don't have anywhere to go and the rain is getting really heavy." The mysterious person spoke. Their voice was calming and sweet despite their intimidating demeaner.

"Oh- Uh- Of course! Come in!" She almost shouted a little too enthusiastically.

The figure gave them a slight weird look but stepped in anyway, taking of their boots. Reducing their height by a considerable amount.

Sapphire suddenly gain consciousness and ran to the washing that she had just saved to grab a towel for the person who just came in.

She continued to admire the clothes the other person was in as she almost felt self conscious, her pale pink dress with a matching bow in her hair and white cardigan suddenly felt so plain and un-interesting.

"Uh- Can I come in or?" The person asked in the doorway to the living room where the other was currently stood rethinking everything.

"Oh- Come in, It's ok. . . My name is Sapphire." She introduced herself politely.

It was then when she looked up at the new person in her house that she could properly see them. They had a black septum piercing in and safety pin looking earrings in. There were rainbow pins and more safety pins on their shirt and a large black belt around their waist. They were at least 5 inches taller than Saph, probably more, and had large black eyes. It was like a mysterious black hole in space.

"Hi. . ." They answered cautiously. Stepping into the room with the towel in hand.

Sapphire motioned to the sofa as she came in. Making this person lay the towel down on the sofa and sitting down to make sure that they wouldn't get the sofa wet.

"You know. . ." They began to speak as the smaller sat down next to them. "You probably shouldn't just let a random stranger into your house." They spoke calmly.

Chills were sent through Saph's body, she was frozen. Was this person going to do something to her, they were right, she shouldn't have just accepted that request so quickly.

"Don't worry, I won't do anything, I just wouldn't want anything to happen to you. You're a nice person." They spoke,  It was like they already knew everything about them. . .

"Oh, Yea, thanks." Sapphire replied. This entire time, This person hadn't introduced themselves or even made any eye contact. Maybe they were just secretly shy Saph thought. "So what is your name?" She finally asked.

"Well I don't usually just give out my information like you do." They replied. Embarrassing Saph, making her look away to not show them their face that was currently getting extremely red, so much that you could compare it to the red streaks lining the other's face and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. "But, My name is Sage." They spoke.

"Well, It's nice to meet you Sage!" Saph gleamed. Sage then looked away quickly, hiding their face. Sapphire wasn't sure why they would be embarrassed but left it alone.

"Would you like a drink?" Sapphire asked, trying the break that awkward silence that had begun.

"Uh- Sure, what have you got?" Sage answered, watching the other sit up and walk to the door, waiting for an answer.

"Well, I can make a smoothie, or tea, I have a lot of tea, Umm Oh I have coffee and water. . . There's milk?" Saph replied, figuring she should stop talking at this point. Sage was currently deciding what to ask for.

"We have orange juice. . ." Saph continued.

This made Sage laugh at how awkward they were being. Their laugh was so cute to Sapphire. Their smile in general too. Saph just wanted to watch it forever.

"You know what, I'll have some of that then." Sage answered, giggling some more.

"Ok then, One orange juice coming up." They laughed together for a second before continuing what they were doing.

Soon after, Sapphire came back with two glasses of orange juice.

The two spoke for ages, it felt like they had known each other for ages. And every time they spoke they learned something new.

But the rain began to stop, the clouds began to clear and the glasses began to empty.

"I guess I should go now, my mum is shouting me." Sage spoke.

"Huh, I don't hear anyone calling you?" Saph said, tilting her head like a confused dog would.

"Oh, Uhh- I can just feel it." She spoke.

"Umm, Ok. Well I guess we'll see each other around?" Sapphire asked.

"Yeah, I think we will."

And with that, Sage left the house. Sapphire didn't ask where about the other lived. They already didn't seem trusting and she didn't want to sound like a creep.

She just couldn't help but think about their interaction. Was it fate that had brought them together. It was just funny to her that they were both the same age and happened to like the same sort of things, music, art. They both loved it. Plus, They wanted to learn how to bake and cook. Which Sapphire was happy to help with.

"Yeah, I think we will. . ." Saph resonated on these words. She kept repeating them to herself and smiling every time she did so.
