A Globe Upon a Light

I saw a globe upon a light

And wondered how it took such flight

To reach its towers and it's height

With Gravity to fight

My heart is with it, stuck up there

And it gives me quite a scare

Next to the globe with people fair

I'm afraid my heart will tear

Some are willing to take the climb

While others wait for the time

"It'll pass through" they will chime

As if those who climb don't cost a dime

Those who reached the top are maimed

By lions who remain untamed

Those who follow the way they came

Their fate will be the same

Others think that is insane

And climb up when the moon is wane

They will stumble through a storm of rain

And get caught and wrapped in chain

I saw the globe upon its cape

Of shadow inside the light's shape

As my heart tears and begs for tape

I realize there is no escape
