I watched as the air grew thicker
Everyone breathes it in.
Minds get agitated quicker
Starting to call the others names.
Somebody misses the ball
Though she had her eye upon it.
Then she gets yelled at for its fall:
"Why did you not catch the ball?
"You can't catch a ball
"When it's right in front of your face!"
At least she tried
The common, quiet thought
Unlike you, the one who disgrace
And then the game moves on
The opponent running bases.
One stops on mine and looks into my eyes
This isn't fun she places
The words into the air
Though only my ears caught it.
Then the ball is hit across the field
And the negativity with it.
At last, the girl began to complain
The same one who had started this
"I am so sore from running," she whines.
"Who else wants to pitch?"
No one moves, but the girl on third
Running to the pitcher's flat
Like a sweet puppy dog
Fetching after a bouncy ball.
I got you she says, being oh-so-kind
I want to pitch
But still the girl continued to whine
"Are you SURE?" she taunted
"I don't think you can do this?
"Can you?"
Just give her the ball!
I voice everyone's thoughts.
Let's just play the game!
The girl posed in an attitude pose
Her voice, so full of venom.
"Did you not just see me hand it to her?"
But I don't back down
Great! Good job! You gave her the ball!
No please, move on with your life.
She looked the first base man
(where I stand)
"WHO ARE YOU!?!?!?!?!?"
She screams and shouts
Before storming away to her
Outfield place
And quiets herself
To a gossip pace.
I silently grin
As she fusses and grumbles
Now she tries to hurt me
But now others won't tumble.
I'm the Invisible Poet
I say to myself.
No wonder you crumbled
As you looked at me.
