Odd one out

New beginnings

I open the taxi door to reveal a huge school, almost castle like and a bunch of kids in uniforms roaming the school grounds. After paying and thanking the taxi driver I begin to walk down the short path to the entrance to this magnificent looking school. Though the path is only short the walk seemed to take a lifetime. I could feel the stairs as I walked towards the school, the only one not in a uniform, I was afraid to speak because I knew that my accent would make me stand out more. I finally reach the inside of the school and am directed by a nice lady to the principals office. I knock on his door and hear a loud, confident male voice in a thick British accent tell me to enter.
"You must be Rosie, I am principle Edwards and we are very happy to have you at our school! How was you're flight from Canada my dear?"
"It was fine thanks."
Yup that's right I am from Canada. Nova Scotia to be exact. I was here on an full scholarship where I got to stay at this amazing British boarding school. Principal Edwards begins to speak
"On the grounds there are 7 houses; house of Ira, house of superbia, house of invidia, house of gula, house of cupiditas, house of acedia, and house of avaritia. You will be staying in house of gula. We will have you're things sent over along with you. Classes start on Monday and your uniform will be waiting for you. I hope you enjoy you're time here but I am in quite a rush so Elie will show you to your house. Good day and goodbye" He ran out the door and for the first time I noticed a girl standing in the corner. She had dark brown hair and is sorta tall, chocolate brown eyes and a warm smile.
"Hi I am Elie, I live in Gula house as well, come on everyone is excited to meat you!" She also has a British accent but so does everyone here, well accept me. Elie and I walk to a large looking house about ten minutes away, it is huge, surrounded by trees with a big backyard. We enter the house to into a front entrance with stairs leading both up and down, there is also a door to the left and a closet to the right.
" your stuff should be arriving any minute" says Elie, I just smile. She leads me through the door to the left where there is a huge living room with a tv and ping pong table, also a large dining room which is attached to a kitchen. In the living room there are is two girls sitting on the couch, a guy on a chair on his phone and two guys playing ping pong. The girls are the first to notice me .
"Oh you must be the new girl!" A blond girl in a pink sparkly dress almost squeals. She runs up and hugs me almost knocking me down.
" calm down Ashley or you will scare her away , hi I am Faith and this, well this is Ashley. Sorry about her she just gets a tad over excited." Faith laughs. " it's fine" I giggle quietly " I am Rosie"
" I love you're accent are you from America?" Ashley asks.
"Actually Canada." I say
" like with polar bears?!"
"Not quite" I say suppressing a laugh .
"But I thought..."
" I will explain later Ashley" giggles faith.The two boys playing ping pong have now came over and introduced themselves as being Alex and Mitch and are now wrestling in the corner. Alex is clearly winning. Finally the boy on his phone gets up and introduces himself as josh he seems laid back and friendly.
" I see you have met Ellie" says josh. I just smile. Ellie then brings me to meat Beth are house mother, and Lou the house supervisor. Beth seemed very friendly but Lou was just bitter.
"Ok let's go see you're room! You are sharing with Lucy." Ellie says to me.
" who is Lucy?" I ask well I go through the names I just learned in my head making sure she wasn't one of them.
" oh you haven't met her she is upstairs, she is well... Just try not to get on her bad side" I could tell by her tone of voice that Lucy and her where not bff's. I walked into a purple room with two beds bumping, into a tall, brown haired girl.
" hi you must be Lucy?" I reached my hand out for her to shake but she just pushed passed me.
" she is a bit of a handful but you get used to her" Elie informes me. We hear Beth call dinner so we walk down stairs Elie is quite a bit ahead of me as I stoped to put my bags in my room, she says she will meet me in the kitchen. I was on my way down stairs when my toe got caught on a loose flour board, I could feel myself falling as I prepared myself for the impact that never came, instead a pairs of strong arms caught me. I looked up to see a unfamiliar, handsome face. " you must be the new girl, I am Ryder." He spoke with a grin on his face. " hi I'm Rosie" I smiled " well twinkle toes you better watch your step, you might not always have a handsome hero like me to save the day" he winked then walked away. One thing is for sure, England is going to be even better than I thought.
