"Wh-What…?" Crusher felt his world spin again as he drove back. "No, no, no, no…"
"It's okay... I'll be with you the entire time," Blaze assured.
"B-But I'm not ready!" Crusher started to tear up again. "N-No, I'm not ready…"
"Well... I can stay outside with you till you are."
"Th-That would be nice," Crusher nodded with a sniffle of his tears.
"Okay. Roarian, you go on ahead."
Roarian nodded and turned to head to the room with the others. Crusher and Blaze stayed behind, with the dark blue truck looking like he was about to break down again while hyperventilating. Blaze rubbed his back in comfort as he offered him a smile.
"Things will work out, Crusher. I know they will."
"It's just… without Grammy… I'm… I'm orphan…" Crusher whimpered.
"No... you're not. It's just what your parents want you to think. I... I'm sure my mom and dad would take you in as one of their own. They would take in almost every kid in foster care if they could."
"R-Really…?" Crusher glanced up at him in surprise. "N-No, I couldn't… I… I don't want to bother them,"
"You wouldn't. Me personally? I... I'd love to have another brother."
Crusher looked hurt for a moment before turning away.
"Did... did I say something wrong...?" Blaze frowned.
"Yes," Crusher sighed and drove off. "I'm going to say goodbye to Grammy now. I'd rather have her company than yours at the moment,"
Blaze looked extremely hurt, but complied and let Crusher go on ahead. Then, he sat down.
"I meant it when I said I'd love to have a brother... would... would he not wanna be my brother...?"
Meanwhile, Pickle met up with Crusher when he saw him enter the room.
"Where's Blaze? I thought you two would be coming up together."
"No thanks, I… I already have Grammy dying to deal with. I… I don't need to deal with HIM either…" Crusher shook his head.
Pickle sighed and nodded in understanding before they both drove forward towards Grammy.
"Hi, Grammy..."
"Hello, my dear…" Grammy offered him a weak smile as she held his tire.
"I… I'm going to miss you…" Crusher sniffled before breaking down again.
"Don't worry, Crushy... I'll always be in your heart. And with this necklace," she said, taking a beautiful rainbow jeweled necklace out, "you'll never be alone."
"Oh, Grammy…" Crusher began to sob again as he reached out to hug her as much as he could.
"You'll NEVER be alone, Crushy. No matter what anyone else says." Grammy told him.
"I… I love you, Grammy," Crusher spoke, barely a whisper as he felt his tears choke him.
"I love you too, Crushy. Where's Blaze?"
Crusher's face went grim at the mention of his rival.
"What happened, baby...?" Grammy frowned.
"I…" Crusher hissed and went closer to whisper and not let anyone hear him. "All he would ever see me is as a friend or a brother, nothing more, nothing less, and… and it hurts, Grammy… it… it hurts…"
"Well... why don't you tell him how you feel?"
"Because there's no chance," Crusher sighed and shook his head.
"There might be. Do it for me... okay? As one last request."
"I… O-Okay…" Crusher sighed and nodded. "I… I'll try,"
"I know you will." Grammy gave a smile.
Suddenly, the pain in her chest seemed to worsen as her grip on her grandson slowly began to slip.
"G-Grammy...?"
"I… I have to leave now, Crushy…" Grammy sniffled her own tears as she tried to hold onto him again.
Crusher's tears were like endless waterfalls as he felt his Grammy's tire weigh down. He watched in horror as his grandmother's eyes closed, and it didn't look like she was going to wake up any time soon.
"No... no!!! WAKE UP!!!"
"Crusher…"
Pickle tried to reach for his best friend, but Crusher was thrashing hard and knocked him back.
"WAKE UP, GRAMMY!!! WAKE UP, PLEASE!!"
Blaze heard the yelling upstairs, and he went up and held Crusher's tire. "Crusher... it's gonna be okay..."
"NO IT'S NOT!" Crusher yelled out, turning to glare daggers at the red truck.
"Crusher, please, calm down," Blaze told him.
"CALM DOWN?! MY GRAMMY JUST DIED IN FRONT OF ME, AND YOU WANT ME TO… TO FREAKING CALM DOWN?! ARE YOU INSANE?!"
"Well... when you put it that way..." Blaze winced.
"And guess what?! GRAMMY'S DEATH IS YOUR FAULT!! IF YOU HADN'T BEEN MY PARTNER IN THAT RACE, I WOULD HAVE BEEN HERE TO SAVE HER!! YOU'RE NOTHING BUT A MONSTROUS KILLER!! GO!! I DON'T WANT ANYTHING TO TO WITH YOU ANYMORE!!!"
Blaze was taken back and struck with hurt while everyone looked horrified by what the dark blue truck had just said. Crusher didn't seem to take back what he spoke as he turned away from the red truck.
"Crusher, I…" Blaze tried to find something to say but sighed and nodded. "I… I'll go,"
And just a moment later, tears were rolling as he left the room. Everyone watched him leave before they turned to Crusher, angry and frustrated.
"Crusher, what was THAT ABOUT?!" Starla yelled out.
"Just stating the honest facts..." Crusher grumbled with a hiss.
"But look at what everything Blaze has done to help you!" Watts cried out. "He's tried to help you, and all you do is push it away as if it was nothing!"
"So...? It's not like he ever cared..." Crusher huffed.
"He DOES care for you!" Darington yelled. "We ALL do! Why don't YOU see it?!"
"If you all take Blaze's side... then leave."
"If that's how YOU are going to be then fine! We will!" Stripes hissed and turned. "Come on, everyone!"
Everyone turned to follow him out... even Pickle. Crusher watched them leave. He didn't care.
Why should he? No one else did…
right?
He stared down at the necklace in his tires and hissed, shaking his head.
"I told you that I'd be alone when you leave, Grammy,"
With that, he set the necklace down and turned back to Grammy's corpse. He laid beside it and held her close.
"I guess... there are somethings you are wrong on..."
