Meanwhile, Blaze and Crusher groaned as they were met with a flash of blinding light. When the light ceased, they found themselves back at the house… though it looked grayer than usual.

"Huh...?" Blaze looked confused. "Where are we…?"

"Blaze…"

The duo turned to see AJ crying over two bodies.

"AJ? AJ, it's okay. I'm right here!"

"Blaze... I don't think he can hear us," Crusher said.

"Of course he cannot!" They turned to see Life float towards them. "You are spirits, after all,"

"Spirits?" Blaze questioned.

"Technically dead but also technically not," Life shrugged as he motioned them to see the rest of their friends gather around the corpses.

"They look... really sad..." Crusher sighed. "But... what was the plan exactly? Let us see them one more time?"

"No, of course not, Death is not THAT cruel," Life chuckled. "He sent you here for two things; one, a job. And two, a choice,"

"Okay...? Can you explain?"

"Alright, first, the job," Life handed them swords. "Go and take Calvin and Krisha's lives. They're hard to kill, honestly, and Death doesn't like to make house calls to come here directly,"

"Well... okay..." Blaze shuddered. "What about the choice?"

"Basically your choice," Life shrugged. "From here, you can slip back into your bodies and return to them or not,"

"We… can?"

"Yes, but of course there's a catch," Life grinned. "Besides the pain, there's another catch,"

"And that is...?"

"Once you are ressurected, you two will be bonded, to the fact that if one of you dies, so will the other," Life spoke.

"Oh…" the duo glanced at each other.

"Also if you choose to stay alive, once you die again… you won't be heading to heaven," Life added.

"W-Where would we be heading...?" Crusher gulped.

"Not in hell, don't worry!" Life laughed. "You just would stay with me and Death in the plain, that's all, but you won't be able to go to heaven to see your grandmothers,"

"Crusher...? What do you think we should do?" Blaze turned to the other.

"I… I don't know, Blaze…" Crusher grimaced. "I'd love to see Grammy again, but… your friends and family want and need YOU here…"

"I know... but... I really, really need you here too... but I don't wanna keep you from seeing Grammy..."

"Okay, you two, before you start getting emotional, maybe doing the job could help," Life told them. "Go ahead and kill Krisha and Calvin,"

"So... where can we find them?" Blaze asked.

"Up there," Life pointed to the helicopter hovering above. "They're trying to make a getaway,"

"Well, since we're spirits, we can just fly after them!" Crusher grinned. "Come on!"

Blaze chuckled as they flew up. They gripped their swords as they slipped into the helicopter, unseen.

"You're gonna enjoy this, aren't you, Crusher?"

"Ohhh yeah. With all the pain they caused me, it'll be worth it. But... are you okay with killing em? I know this can't be easy."

"I'll manage. Ready? One... two... three!!"

They swung their blades towards the cruel adults. Their blades, unfortunately, miss them but head straight up towards the fan blades of the helicopter, causing the helicopter to stop flying.

"Uh oh...!!"

The duo screamed as their helicopter fell from the sky. Blaze and Crusher escaped from the helicopter and watched as the vehicle crashed into the ground with a thud and a boom.

"You uh... think they're dead?" Crusher asked with a nervous chuckle.

An explosion soon came from the crash site.

"Okay, they're definitely dead," Crusher deadpanned.

"Okay, let's head back." Blaze nodded and turned to fly back.

"Where are you two going?"

The two jumped to see Life appearing behind them.

"Whoa! You got here fast!" Crusher said.

"So... I guess you're gonna demand an answer?" Blaze sighed. "The thing is, we don't know. I wanna go back with Crusher to see our friends and family, but... then again... I don't want Crusher missing out on seeing Grammy again. It wouldn't be fair to him... and AJ really misses me. I don't wanna see him like that forever! I... I just..."

He couldn't say anymore without tears trickling down his cheeks.

"Wow, Death just made things harder," Life huffed. "I'm SO taking his cloak next time,"

"Blaze…" Crusher patted his back comfortingly. "You know… I just got a thought…"

"W-What's that...?"

"Grammy said that when she… when she leaves, I… I won't be alone," Crusher spoke. "I… I didn't think it was possible, especially after you all left after my overreacting, but maybe… maybe she's right," He held Blaze's tire with a smile. "I… I know that she would always be with me. I have everything to remind me of her, and I know… I know she'd do anything to see me live my life. I… I choose to stay. What about you? I… I know that you want to see your grandmother, so… the final choice is yours,"

"I…" Blaze took a deep breath and straightened up. "It's been years since I've seen my grandmother, but… I know that she would also like to live my life with my family too," He glanced up at Crusher and smiled. "And if I live with you, I KNOW that I'm making the right choice,"

"So, stay alive or leave?" Life asked.

"We choose… to stay," the two replied.

"Thought so," Life chuckled. "Now come on, help me take those bastard souls to Death then we'll take you back to your corpses,"

"Got it."

The two nodded and went over to the explosion.
