I was finally able to shift but not fight. We were running around when the sound of attacker echoed through the air. I couldn't do anything but watched as hunters ran and attacked the wolves. The wolves were winning yet the hunters refused to back down. Then I smelt it. The sweet scent of hot chocolate and candy canes. The perfect scent I only smelled during Christmas. My eyes landed on a girl who fought with fire in her eyes. That was my mate. My mate was a hunter but still, I had to have her.

She quickly became the only one left. A wolf went flying in her direction and I jumped out, knocking him out of the air. I landed and ran, standing behind my mate with a snarl. I curved my body as a way to protect her.

"Don't strike. She's his mate." Noah shouted. The girl turned and glanced at me but didn't lower the silver sword.

"Andrew, we understand she's your mate. We promise that we won't hurt her." My father said. My name triggered something in her as she turned quickly and pointed the sword at me. I was quick to back up and look at my mate in fear. What did I do? I saved her from being a wolf's lunch.

"You killed her. You killed my best friend." She snapped. Realization dawned on me when I realized who she was talking about. The girl that got me the worse injury during the time I was being held captive. I glanced at Noah who nodded and snuck up and took the sword.

"Sorry but I can't let you kill the man when I just got him back." Noah said. He threw a pair of shorts to me before holding my mate to where she couldn't do anything but stand and watched. I went and changed back into my human form. I pulled the shorts on and walked out making everyone gasp.

I stood in front of my mate with a glare. Noah handed me the sword which seemed to shock my family and mate. Before I said anything though I felt a finger trace the word on my back. I turned and found my mother looking at my in shock.

"What did they do to you?" She whispered. Her eyes darted to every scar on my body.

"Torture." I whispered. A scream sounded causing us all to turn our attention to the owner. My mate. She stared at my body in horror before her eyes met mine. They were filled with fear and tears that threatened to fall.

"You. You're the one who gave them the orders to do this to mt brother weren't you?" My brother growled. I let out a warning growl but he didn't say anything.

"No. It wasn't me. My father. He gave the orders." She said quickly.

"Gave? What do you mean gave? Why didn't you stop it?" Ronald growled.

"Yes gave. I killed him. If I had known what they were doing I would have stopped it." The girl said. I growled and tightened my hold on the sword. I threw it and watched as it landed in a tree the the point it was stuck.

"Take her to the room." I snarled before walking off.

Skylar's POV

I was stuck with one of these forever? It couldn't be all that bad though right? It was that beautiful boy who i got trapped with. The boy that killed my best friend. My father had been mated to a wolf. He began killing them after one took her and my brother from him. I was just raised to hate them without any other reason.

When my mate had turned his back to me, I saw what they talked about in the reports. I hadn't believed that they went that far. I didn't want to believe it. Yet there on the top of his back was the word murderer. There were scars that looked worse than the ones on the front. I couldn't help but scream out in horror as I looked at him. He looked so innocent in the photograph. If I had known that what the reports said were true then I would have never turned to try and attack him. The man who had me in a hold followed his orders and looked at me with a frown.

"I'll be surprised if he doesn't reject you." The man said. Not long after we arrived in a room my mate slammed the door open, this time he had a shirt on. If looks could kill then it would be either me or the man in the room who was dead.

"Andrew, before you do anything just remember she's the only mate you get." The man said. Was he putting on an act right now? My mate growled before crossing his arms before wincing and moving his arms again.

"I'll get someone to wrap your arms." The man said and rushed out.

"Why are you a hunter?" My mate growled out.

"My father was one. He became one after a wolf killed his mate and my older brother. It's all I grew up on." I mumbled. The man came back with someone who began to wrap my mate's arms. Once the guy was done he left the room.

"Why do you want to kill my alpha?" The man asked.

"He killed my best friend." I said.

"She wanted to kill me. I don't see the problem." My mate snapped.

"What would you do if someone killed your best friend?" I snapped back. He looked at the man next to him.

"Kill whoever killed him as well as anyone who got in my way." My mate mumbled.

"But that doesn't explain why you wanted to kill him after we said he was your mate. Mates don't try to kill each other." The man said.

"I didn't realize that's what you said until after it happened." I said. What I said was true. I was still running off of the adrenaline. Then when he saved me from becoming a wolf's meal I was in shock. I wasn't processing things correctly.

"Do you believe her?" The man asked my mate. He rolled his eyes and turned his head to face the man. I watched my mate lift his hand before letting it connect with the man's head.

"Right. Of course. She's your mate. You believe her." The man said as he held the back of his head.
