the sun shone brightly in ivy's face as she lowered her head, looking up at the sign held up by steel bars, the word charleston with four arrows written on it.
she then leaned back onto jj, looking out at the water, 'i wonder how they're doing right now, where they are, what they're doing.' she sighed.
'probably out in nassau, shopping in the streets, getting things for us hopefully.' jj smiled.
'we can only hope.' ivy smiled back, watching as a few boats drove inwards towards the docks, the memories of her and john b doing the same racing through her head.

'yea they're a bunch of fancy people, they have to be they've had three governors in the family. they've run charleston for like 300 years.' kie spoke.
'these kooks make our kooks look like pogues.' jj said.
'yea and they make pogues look like a rat on the street.' ivy scoffed.
pope brought the truck to a stop, throwing it in park before shutting it off.
'you sure this is the place pope?' jj asked, looking out at the fence that surrounded the property.
'pretty sure.' pope mumbled.
'all right.' jj nodded, throwing open the passenger side door and allowing ivy to jump off his lap before getting out himself. 'fat city, for sure.'
pope stopped at the gate, holding the note up to the house, 'twenty seven king street.'
'talk about home security.' jj said, referring to the gate.
ivy stared up at the house in awe, 'you could fit like, 9 chateaus in here.'
her eyes then wandered upwards, landing on the spikes sticking out from the gate.
'are those spikes to keep people out...' jj trailed off.
'mideveil torture type beat.' ivy whispered.
'the slave quarters are over there. these spikes where to keep people in.' pope sighed.
'well... let's hope they don't try keeping us in.' ivy said, stepping forward and pushed the gate open, cringing as it creaked and squeaked.
she then began walking the stone path until she got to the front door, stopping to see everyone close behind her.
'you can do the honors, i wasnt sent the invitation.' ivy said, stepping out of popes way of the door.
pope hesitated before stepping forward, grabbing the knocker at the top of the door, banging it a few times before stepping back again. 'you think that was too much?'
'yea- it echoed the entire house. that's for sure. so they definitely heard it.' jj nodded.
'maybe nobody's home.' kie said.
'if nobody's home then i'm gonna beat their asses when they get back.' ivy growled.
pope reached forward again, slamming the knocker against the door twice, only for it to swing open on his third attempt.
a younger looking man opened the door, a grey button up shirt neatly buttoned on him, a pair of black pants and black shoes paired along with it.
'you must be pope.' he smiled.
pope swallowed, 'um. are you mr limbrey?'
'miss limbrey was expecting you yesterday.' the man corrected.
