ivy hadn't taken her eyes off of john b since he entered the courtroom, that was until the pounding of the gavel made her jump.

'john booker routledge, pursuant to the north carolina statute section 14, you are charged with murder in the first degree with aggravated circumstances. if convicted, the maximum sentence would be the death penalty.'

the entire courtroom then erupted with the murmurs of everyone- whether it was out of anger or happiness.

ivy dug her nails into the palms of her hands, her blood boiling as ward cameron only sat a few rows ahead of them.

everyone then stood up, jj being the first to voice his opinion, 'your honor, he's 17. he's 17! are you kidding me?'

pope began pushing jj to the exit of the courtroom, ivy and sarah rushing to get close to john b.

'john b we're gonna get you out!' ivy yelled.

'john b!' sarah yelled.

kiara ran forward, grabbing the two girls as an officer went to begin pushing them back.

'don't touch them!' she hissed. 'guys let's go.'

'watch your back in there john b, please!' ivy yelled.

kie grabbed onto one of each girls' arms, letting go of ivy once she interlocked her hand with jj's.

as the five walked out into the fresh air, the snarky comments of everyone around them got louder.

'justice is served.'

'he deserved it.'

'he can rot in there for what he did.'

'is this a joke? like are we in hell?' kie asked.

'i should have never come home.' sarah said.

'they're gonna kill him guys, i know it.' jj added.

'i am so sorry for what you and your family have gone through. thank god the system works.'

'can you please shut up?' kie began yelling. 'of course you think the system worked because it was made to protect you and people like you.'

'he'll have his day in court. a jury will decide.' the man said.

'i'm gonna fucking join him if you don't shut the fuck up!' ivy yelled.

'he shouldn't even be in court! you should, cause you're a murderer. you know, you've got a lot of nerve showing up here.' kie yelled.

'i know you're upset, i understand you're upset.' ward said. 'i know he's got you fooled.'

'no, i'm not just upset!' kie yelled, lunging for ward, only to get yanked back by shoupe and another officer.

'show some respect!' ward yelled.

'show some respect? don't tell her to show some respect when you killed my father and you're taking my brother away from me, you're taking everything from me!' ivy screamed.

nobody payed attention to ivy as she slowly walked towards ward, jj yelling at shoupe behind her.

'you are the last god damn people on this earth who deserve some fucking respect.' she spat.

'routledge, you wanna join your brother in there?' shoupe yelled.

ivy backed away from ward, joining jj and pope as shoupe continued pushing away kiara and sarah.

'and it's not just a coincidence that your daughters sitting with us!' kie yelled.

'alright keep going, nothing to see here, shows over!' a deputy yelled.
