Isn't it strange that when Dad left
I always thought he would
Come back
And when he did I would scream and cry
Because I would be so
So happy
But Dad never did
Come back
All that came was a medal
And a letter
And the empty feeling
Of losing who you love
In war and
The bloodstained memories
That Dad carried with him
Are gone now,
But my fear
And hatred
Of war
Will never
Ever
Leave
