Tetsuya's birthday was coming up. Normally, birthdays weren't a thing the Akashi's celebrated. To them, it was just another celebration. However, Shiori may or may not have slipped a book about birthdays to the twins.
"Is everyone here?" Senjūrō asked his twin. Seijūrō did a quick headcount.
"Suki, Dai, Ryo, Atsu, Taro, you, me... Yep, that's everyone," Seijūrō said. It wasn't unusual for the 7 to come together for a weekly meeting. These meetings were normally for pranking their nii-san. Some were important, but this one would be the most important meeting in a while.
"Minne!" Senjūrō yelled, standing up from his 'throne' (it was a plastic chair). "Nii-san's birthday is in 2 days. Normally, birthdays aren't a big thing for us, as you know." The 5 nodded in agreement, wondering where this was going. "Tetsuya puts a lot of effort into making sure we have a normal childhood, so we need to do the same for him!"
"How do we do that?" Daiki asked.
"Something similar to the ones Tetsuya has been throwing us. Tetsuya is a great planner, and all of our birthdays have been great, even if father wasn't there. That's beside the point, though. For now, we're hosting the greatest birthday for Tetsuya!" Seijūrō said, remaining in his plastic chair.
"Hai!" The 5 yelled.
Tetsuya smiled from behind the door. He walked away in silence. Sometimes his low presence was a helpful thing. He wondered who would be in charge of what.
Atsushi was now standing in the kitchen, looking up at the maid. "Sakura-chin. Can you teach me how to bake a cake?" he asked the maid. Sakura nodded at the child giant.
"H-Hai!" Atsushi grinned, opening the pantry to take out the ingredients. He had only ever made pretend cakes, but he sort of knew what to do. Sakura told him what ingredients to get and helped prepare them.
Atsushi did most of it himself, with the guidance of Sakura. The two poured some flour into the bowl, Atsushi adding the sugar. Sakura pointed at the spatula, Atsushi taking it and stirring the dry ingredients together. Sakura poured in some baking powder and sprinkled in some salt. Atsushi continued stirring as she stepped away to pre-heat the oven and line the pans.
"Alright, now we have to do the wet ingredients!" she said with a smile. She got a separate bowl and poured some milk into it. Atsushi poured in vanilla extract, knowing that Kuroko was obsessed with vanilla. Sakura added some butter and taught the giant how to crack eggs.
The two then combined the dry and wet ingredients. "It should soon become cake batter," she said as she helped the younger stir. "Stirring can take awhile, and it can hurt your arms after stirring for so long."
After the mixture turned gloppy, Sakura helped Atsushi pour the batter into the pan. She took the cake into the oven and closed the door. "Now, we wait. Was there anything else I could help with?" Atsushi cocked his head to the side, thinking.
"It's for Tetsu-chin. Can you decorate it for him?" He asked. Sakura smiled sweetly, patting the giant on the head.
"Hai, Murasakibara-san!" Atsushi nodded and walked away.
"I believe everything has been prepared?" Akashi asked. It was around 10:50 PM. They should all be asleep, but they had a party to plan. Everyone nodded. Senjūrō opened up the living room, decorations strung up against the walls, the cake in the middle of the coffee table, presents stacked up high in a corner. There were a few helium balloons that were bouncing on the roof.
The two twins looked over the room, analysing every little detail before deeming it worthy. "Atsushi, cover the cake. Everyone, to bed before 'Suya kills us," Seijūrō ordered. Everyone nodded, heading off to bed. Murasakibara covered the cake and walked out of the room, dragging Kise with him.
"Don't even think about it, Ryō-chin," Murasakibara mumbled. Kise huffed as he was thrown onto his bed, the door slamming shut soon afterwards.
"I wasn't gonna eat it," he mumbled as he threw the covers over himself.
Kuroko rubbed his eyes tiredly as he woke up. He went to the bathroom to brush his teeth and tame his unruly bedhead. He sighed, splashing his face with cold water and leaving the bathroom. "Ohayō, Seijūrō-kun, Senjūrō-kun," Kuroko greeted as he opened the door.
"Happy birthday, nii-san!" The two said. Kuroko smiled, playing with the twins' bed hair.
"Arigatō," he thanked. The two went into the bathroom as Kuroko exited, heading towards the kitchen for some breakfast. Murasakibara handed him a plate of food. "Eh? Arigatō, Atsushi-kun," he said. Murasakibara watched Kuroko's expression closely. "Tastes good," he mumbled, giving Atsushi a small smile. It made his heart swell with pride. He looked at the ingredients lying around and picked one up.
Kuroko was in his study when Kise and Aomine approached him. "Tetsu!" Aomine yelled. Kise grinned as he handed Kuroko two cards. One from him and one from Aomine. On the front was 'Happy Birthday Nii-san!' in a messy, glittery hiragana.
"Do you like it?!" Kise yelled. Kuroko nodded, giving a small smile.
"I love it, arigatō, Ryōta-kun, Daiki-kun," Kuroko thanked. He hugged the two, the two trying to push him away.
"Tetsu/Tetsucchi! Put us down!" They yelled. Kuroko mocked rolling his eyes and let them go.
Kuroko turned back to his work, Aomine and Kise deciding it was time to leave. The two left the room, walking past the glittered room that the maids were now trying to clean up.
"Tetsu-kun!" Satsuki yelled as she clung onto Kuroko's shirt.
"Satsuki-san," he said in mild surprise. "And Shintaro-kun," he added. Midorima huffed, handing Kuroko what he assumed was Aquarius' lucky item.
"Can't have you be unlucky on your birthday, nii-san," Midorima mumbled. Kuroko gave a small smile, taking the small rainbow pin.
"Arigatō, Shintaro-kun. Satsuki-san, please let go of my shirt." Momoi let go, smiling at her older brother.
"Tetsu-kun! I made you this pin to go alongside Shin-chan's!" It was a pale blue with a flower. Each petal was a different colour which represented their hair colour.
"Arigatō, Satsuki-san."
As lunch approached, everyone was adding the finishing touches. The twins had now gone to get Kuroko. Everyone was standing in the dark, ready. The doors opened, and the lights flicked on.
"Happy Birthday Tetsuya/Tetsu-chin/Tetsu/Tetsu-kun/Tetsuyacchi!" The 5 of them yelled, setting off the party poppers. Kuroko smiled widely.
"Arigatō, minne-san!" He yelled.
The cake was lit, 5 candles standing in the frosting. Kuroko decided he didn't want any of them lighting the cake, so he did it himself. Kuroko then blew out the candles.
Shiori was able to come cut the cake (she left the scolding for lighting the cake without adult supervision for later). "Atsushi-kun, did you make this?" Kuroko asked as he took a bite out of his slice. Murasakibara nodded. "Tastes nice," he said genuinely.
"Arigatō, Tetsu-chin," the giant thanked. "How'd you know I made it?"
"Filled with love, Atsushi-kun,"
Let's just say Atsushi found a new hobby.
