Chapter 24

Maya begged to stay with Olivia. At first I wasn't having it but Liv said she'll take care of her and bring her to the game. I left Maya there and went to shawns apartment. I parked my car there and walked to tyrones house, I don't know who's at tyrones house so I'm not leaving my car there. I'll be damned if they mess up my design.

"We don't like being summoned, Shawn Scott." My older brother said as we got out of his car

"Aint what this is, Ty. This here is everything I've saved" Shawn held up a red bag

"You been stealing from me?" I rolled my eyes at Tyrone's question

"Nah, man, my own cut. On the straight up"

"So why you giving me this?"

"Cause I want out. I want to take my little girl outta here, go live in Louisiana with my cousin. I want something better for her. I'm hoping this here buys me that." Shawn handed the bag to us.

"You think it's that easy?" Ty asked as he held the bag.

"Nah" Ty unzips it then looks at me. I simply shrugged.

"Ok. Looks like we got a deal but you overpaid, chief. You ain't worth this much, Shawn Scott. Never was." I slapped the back of Tyrone's head

"Don't talk about him like that. Anyways imma ride with Shawn.." I walked over to shawns car

"Uh why?" He looked me up and down

"Well for one, he's my boyfriend. Second, my car is over there." I shrugged

"Anyways, uh, enjoy that crawfish in Louisiana." Ty drove off and pointed a finger gun at shawn. Pretending to shoot him but I flipped him off.

"Yo. We just pulled up." Shawn spoke into the phone.

"Man. You had me scared" coop's voice echoed through the phone

Aint nothing to be scared bout. Turns out you were right. About all of it. There is a way out, even for me. Just took me throwing some paper Tyrone's way and now we all square. Told you I'd take care of it" Shawn and I got out the car

"I'm right here to prove it coop. He did it and I'm so proud of him." I smiled at Shawn. I'm so proud of him.

"But I owe you,coop. Took you believing in me for me to believe in myself." Shawn locked his car

"Imma pretend that didn't hurt me." I playfully pouted and stuck out my bottom lip

"You know I didn't forget about you. Baby you been there for me and Maya. You stepped up to be Maya's mom when you didn't even give birth to her. I know you blame yourself for having a miscarriage, especially because you were carrying my child. It's ok tho, it's not your fault so don't say that no more." He kissed me. We pulled away, rested our foreheads on each other and smiled

"Nasty. Anyways back to me. Listen, you don't owe me nothing." Coops voice echoed through the phone once again. I laughed .

"Hey, you know what I'm gonna do now?" Shawn said as he started opening his apartment gate

"No. You tell me." Coop said. I can tell she had a smile on her face

"I'm gonna make a new life for Maya. Start over. Maybe you can come with us. Start over, too. You know what I'm saying?" I smiled at him. Bro this is corny as hell but I'll be corny for this whole day cause I'm so proud of him.
