*Bertholdt looks at annie, her eyes a mix of pain, betrayal, and a coldness, a sad coldness*
Bertholdt: I'm constantly thinking of why I'm doing this, but we don't need unnecessary killing
Eren: you only think it's unnecessary because they're friends, I'll ask again, would you try to stop me too?
*Bertholdt gets up from holding Porco reaching out his hand to help him up*

*The spikes holding pieck retracts from her arms letting her fall into the walking colossal titans when porco jumps to transform mid air and catches her in his mouth falling with her, bertholdt looks back to watch them fall together, it hurts him that he chokes on his own words*
Bertholdt: !... porco...pieck...sorry
Eren: don't be, they chose to do it
Bertholdt: Eren your drive for freedom is turning you into a monster
Eren: isn't that funny, you would know all about how monsters work, fine then, I know what it takes to achieve freedom, I'm protecting everything I love too just like you, it's just on a much larger scale, the largest of scales, I thought you understood
Bertholdt: I do, I really do, but is this the only way?

*spikes and pillers rapidly rises up all around bertholdt piercing his shoulders, arms, legs, all through his body holding him in place stopping inches away from his nape, Eren walks closer to bertholdt to make sure he hears him*
