Of course he'd respond to that story out of everything else. I should've known.

You: This is why I hid my stories from you 🙄

Zayn: I was joking 😅 ...... sort of

I smile as I turn over in my bed, grateful that I got a good night's rest in and happy to have heard from Zayn again. Things won't get back to normal without talking first, but it sure does feel a lot lighter... and that was something I always loved about our relationship. He always made everything feel light, sometimes to the point of floating.

You: You're totally not

You: I can't believe it's still not New Years there

Zayn: Did you just wake up ?

Instead of responding with a simple yes, I snap a picture of me still laying comfortably in the sheets. I don't plan on moving a muscle today, despite the weather being amazing.

Both Naija and Mark told me that in order to even get a spot on the beach to sunbathe, you'd need to leave at sunrise. That wasn't an option, so my balcony will do.

Last night turned out to be fun indeed. As the fireworks went on, I was slightly on edge that Mark might make a move and try to kiss me on the balcony. Thank God he didn't, because now I know my judgement was correct. He's a decent guy after all.
